Hey, newbie here!!

Just bought myself a 3dr Stilo 1.9 JTD Dynamic, and gotta say really enjoying it at the mo, drive nice and bit of a step up from my old clio!!

Main problem is tho, and sure is gonna sound petty, but when i use the remote to lock or unlock the car, the indicator lights do not flash (the manual tells me they should) to tell me whether its locked or unlocked? I get paranoid easily so when say i go to bed i always check car is locked and the indicators is one way of saving me from actually having to go outside!!!

Is there a setting somewhere that i've missed, is there a way to set them up/turn on or off?

Any help would be appreciated!!

There's a switch under the dashboard.

Oops, I jest:)

It's a dealer visit and ask nicely to turn the option on, or, if you're having it dealer serviced, ask them to do it then

Of course, all good dealers will do it for you without charging

Oops, jesting again:)

It's the way you tell 'em Decks :D

I think you'll need to take the master key thingmy along to the dealers when you want this activated - I'm hoping to have my done foc as my local lot screwed up recently..... asked for it to be done when it was in for a service and they said when I picked it up that couldn't be done as the master key 'thingmy' wasn't in the car. Didn't check the owners manual/book thing then I said - no they said - it's in there I said.

"Oh bugger" said the service manager

It's not very smart to keep this master code in your car - your car can be started with this code quite easily without the original key !
The master code is required because the Examiner tester has to unlock the "locked" bodycomputer for this setup change.

The lights should flash from when the car is delivered(part of PDI),if they dont the function has been switched off at the request of previous owner/body computer renewal.

Nothing is free thesedays.

I have tried a couple of times to get different garages to do it, last service was at a Fiat service agent and the one before at a Fiat dealer. They both told me that this option is only available on models with an alarm. Last time though they did ring and ask for the Fiat CODE but still told me later that it couldn't be done.

Just called up my local dealer - apparently a 40min task to turn my indicators on when locking / unlocking the car - charge of £48!!!

Hmmm, do find it amusing how a feature that should have worked in the first place is going to cost me nearly £50?!!

Obviously on VERY bad terms with my local dealership!! (n)

I Had my 2002 1.6 Active done at my dealers they charged me £20, and they need the electronic code for the car to unlock the body computer. The head technician told me that not all stilo's have this option in the body computer so cant always be done. He also said that if i did not have the electronic code for the car Fiat now charge £35 to supply the dealer with the code:(

Yes they have to send a runner all the way from the UK to Italy and back again you see and he's getting on a bit now. I beleive someone has invented something called "a phone" but i don't think it will catch on

Yes, had this done just recently on an early '03 at dealers when it was serviced - they had to get security code from the ISR peeps (by FAX I believe, remember them?) and there was a charge for this (15 quid i think), but they didn't charge for doing it (at least not directly anyway ). They needed all (both) keys that had remote control. If you've already got an ISR sheet, then you should save some dosh.(y)
