eLEARN is bull for this - you don't need to take the glass out, or touch the BC wiring at all.

Easy method:
1. Open the door.
2. Remove the door card.
3. Remove the speaker.
4. With the door half closed, remove the two bolts securing the check-strap to the body.
5. Remove the two bolts keeping it secured to the door.
6. Remove the check strap, removing the seal half way through pulling the strap into the door.

Refit is reverse of remocal.
It really is easy, promise . Took me 30 mins or less per door.

This method works great if you can get the door card off its a t**t, I did my wifes at the weekend and all I did was undone the screws at the bottom of door and removed the bolts securing the card to door & behind door opener, I also popped out the window controller as their is a screw in their also and disconnected it. I then carefully pulled the card away from the door to enable me to get a stubby phillips driver in (Take care you dont pull it to far)and unscrewed the speaker, once this is done you can get your hand in and the door check is a doddle to fit, reverse procedure to complete, voila a door check fitted

There's no need to take the whole door card off. Just prise of the front lower corner and you will have enough room to remove the speaker, which will give you enough access to change the check strap...

Does anyone know if this method would work on a 3dr MK2 Punto?

hi i know this is and old thread but can anyone tell me if there is a right and wrong way to fit these as mine keeps fouling the window glass inside the driver door when i tried to refit it the strap was missing when i first had the car and still is now because of this
