does anyone know how to make the ciggy lighter permently live (when the ignition is off) so my sat nav doesent keep going flat over night, it needs to trickle of the battery all the time...
anyway, how can i make the ciggy ligthter always live...

Chop the positive wire and extend it to a permanent live feed e.g battery but dont forget your fuse. IMO its not a good idea as it will drain your battery.

were is there a permanent live feed Inside the car, i do not want to have to trace a wire to the battery as i do not know an easy rute to get through the bulkhead??
Preferably an easy to get to permanent live????
cheers:confused:

surely , this would drain your battery ?

Mr hammy,

I had my sat nav in my last car that had a permanent live lighter, and it was always in this, and dident run the battery flat even if the car wasent used for 3/4 days,
The sat nav runs on a built in battery the same as a mobile phone, so it is minamal drianage, but becouse of this it only lasts about 6 hours before a recharge, hence why i leave it on permanent charge....well i would if i could get the ciggy lighter to stay live..
Mr hammy, did you read my other problem in the stilo section to do with my stereo ???

Use a tester on the fuse box, or even on the radio wires as there will be a permanent feed to the radio as well as switched. If you wanted to get through the bulkhead you could push a wire through any of the rubber grommets or even the same one where the rest of the loom goes through, not all that difficult to be honest.

Oh rite , i get it now , so its basically not really charging it fully, just sort of stopping it draining . (y)

Was ur problem with making sure that your stereo would not drain the battery ?

I have just made my self an anoying problem, please help.

I was playing around with all the options on my stereo yesterday and now i have a problem, when i turn of the ignition and take out the key the stereo stayes on, and i have to turn it off manually, now that may not sound that bad, well its not, but i am too worried about leaving it on and making my battery flat, and i lie the way it was before so it came on when i turned on the key....
obvioulsy this is an option on the menu but i cant find it, can anyone tell me how to put it back to normal ????

It is the standard Fiat cd unit, and its in a 2004 stilo...HELP !!!!!

Thank you, i look forward to your responce.

Hi

About the stereo not turning off, this is an option you can turn on and off in the setup menu..

Easily fixed.. Press the setup button with the stereo already turned on, then on the bottom of the screen there should be an option for connect nav.

I think its the right hand button.

In there, there is a power option and you can switch the system off with the ignition or manually..

Do that and your laughing

there is a permanent live on the stereo, i have an after market one that will still run with the key out and car locked down.

I thought about taking a fused feed off the back of this before as i have a fault with the cig lighter popping fuses (which i cant trace)

But as said before, too risky and battery flattening ahoy
