Stilo 1.9 Jtd 2003 115 WIth Angel remap & 74000 Miles.
Potential Items & reasons/thoughts for this.

Error code on my Ecu P0235 Overboost (New overboost valve on order) All Hoses/Pipes have been checked for leaks/splits.

Overboost valve.

Inconsistent operation , Closing & or not closing/operating the actuator & doing this at the incorrect time.

Turbo Actuator.

Sticking open or closed & again not working at the correct time dues to being slow Etc. Damaged diaphram, But i believe this would give a consistent issue.

Inlet Manifold Pressure Sensor.

Faulty & sending the incorrect values to the Ecu which in turn mixes up Boost, Air Fuel Etc.

Mass Air Flow Meter (MAF)

Faulty, Therfore giving incorrect values to the Ecu which again gives the engine the incorrct amount of Fuel , Air & boost.

Turbo.

Worn out/Faulty. Not producing enough boost pressure, Too Much !!
I don't believe this to be the issue as generally from past experience a faulty turbo is either nosiy or lame, Resulting in over fueling lots of Smoke. I believe this fault would also be consistent.

Please feel free to add your thoughts / Components

:shakehead: its never good when you can fill a page with a list of problems. my only suggestion would be due to your remap gettin more out of the engine therefore in turn injecting more air/fuel (tho not too much judging from what you were saying bout mpg earlier) these sensors may not have been made to deal with this increased flow, as a result become faulty, now i have never heard of upgraded MAF's etc, but maybe someone else could shed light on that, if i wer you i would get a MAF and the inlet manifold pressure sensor from a salvage yard and see if that helps ya any therefore saving you same expense of the main components, if so they look up to see if you can find a upgraded type of sensor tho as ive experienced, with ECU's its not easy getting after market prodcuts to communicate with it. hope it all works out for ya :)

Hi Jonny.

The map shouldn't be the issue as it has been dveleoped & used in 100's of Stilo Jtd's Etc without issues, As you say more likely to be the Extra load on an already Dodgey component/Sensor Etc.

The List is purely for peoples input/thoughts. On my the Ecu error codes there was only the P0235 OverBoost.

As for an Uprated Maf Etc, It should not be needed, They work by outputting a Voltage Scale, More airflow, More Volts Etc, Once you start to suck more air than the MAf can flow the voltage becomes flat at it's peak, So your power delivery upto that point would be normal & then Tail off Become flat.

Good idea on the Salvage, am always thinking though in the back of my mind with 2nd user components especially if there is no change inthe fault, Are they Faulty !!!

Cheers

Hi mate,

That will almost definitely be your over boost valve causing the inconsistant lack of power. Have you relocated it? Its a very common problem on the stilo due to its location. Its backed up by a fault code to. replace it and your problem will be gone. I'd have a fiver on it!! lol

Also, another item to ad to your list is EGR valve! They also can cause power delivery problems if they stick open/closed.

Cheers,
Alan

Is that a Dig ? Or just a helpful hand showing my other Posts
Im not stuck yet ! It is just the pesemist in me, Expecting the overboost valve not to cure my issue when it arrives, I also thought they were some good points for Discussion, Seeing as this is a Discussion Forum about owning Fiats & all that goes with them.. !!! :D

I think you'll find power delivery is fine if they stick CLOSED although fuel economy will suffer (at lower speeds).

Sorry for jumping in on this thread, but that sounds like that could be the source of my issues - i started off getting lots of smoke and bad mpg - found it was due to a pipe not being secured correctly. Now i dont have any smoke, but am averaging 35Mpg, although on the Motorway the instant mpg doesnt seem to be 'too' bad.

Garage I use who fixed the pipe issue said to leave it a week or so, as it may sort itself out.

We had a brainstorm at work, and if the car is switching from map to map trying to find the right one - this could take a while, surely?

Or could it be a faulty Lamda sensor - could this have got fried due to the overfuelling when the pipe wasnt right.

Either I sort it myself this week or it sorts itself this week, cus I wont be able to get it into a garage for 2 weeks! Damn xmas!

Hi mate,

It wont be your lambada, because the JTD doesn't have one. Also, it should only take a couple of drives for the ecu to sort itself out. EGR is a possibility.

When people clean the Egr, Do they just un-bolt it & fill it full of Carb Cleaner to remove the deposits, Or do they take it apart ?? My car had been stood for the best part of a year before i bought it !!!

Cheers

Hi mate,

Best way is to take it apart.
