I bought my stilo with 17 inch Team Dynamic Nitro Alloys on.

A couple of months back i had my tyres changed and they forgot to put the spacer on the front and my callipers put grooves in the back of the alloys.

I replaced the front hubs as the nuts seemed to have cross threaded and kept falling back out.

My car passed mot on friday and on my way to work Monday my wheel feel off and got jammed in wing, keeping the car propped up and not ripping my bumper and skirts off, have had another wheel hub fitted and a new set of bolts but still seem to do the same, so thanks to DeanF i have purchased some standard 15 inch alloys.

Just wondering has anyone else had any problems after fitting alloys?

Hi mate,

Its pretty rare for that sort of thing to happen unless you are using the wrong type or length of bolts. If they are only just threading (ie too short) then its quite likely that they will pull the thread out and come off. Also, if the nuts have been gunned up, it can strip the threads, but apart from that. What size spacers where you using and what nuts?

Cheers,
Alan

Nearly had a heart attack then, thought you had my old Stilo!

I had the same when I changed alloys, it was down to the shop selling cheap and nasty bolts and they were stripping. Get yourself down to a decent motorfactors and buy some proper bolts.;)

Im with Argo on that. Rock solid 16"ers! Cant go wrong ;) If I were to wake up one morning with a desire to upsize, then I would be inclined always to go for FIAT wheels.

The spacers were only 3mm and I bought a set of bolts for £40 from alloy wheel centre. Pretty fed up of the car now, since buying it last year, i've had clutch, 2 exhausts, 3 hubs, new disks and pads, tyres, alloys, colour coding, tv and ps2 install, 2 12inch subs, vibe 6x9's, tints, perhaps sale might be likely after xmas, only got 40,000 on clock aswell.

Are you sure you bought 98 PCD rims? More usual standard is 100 PCD, and resellers don't always know the Italian standard used on many Fiats, Alfas and Lancias...

Morten.

These wheels were on the car when I bought it, but besides the wheels the car has been nothing but a pain in the ar$£, with dodgy electrics etc. Sorry guys but I wont be in no rush to buy another FIAT again.

I went from 15" steelies to 17" alloys with no issues. Had to use a 3mm spacer, but that was because the bolts were too long and were petruding from the back of the hub.

Are you sure the correct pattern of bolt has been used, with correct thread depth etc?

I had same as above but went from 16" fiat alloys to 17" fox alloys. The new studs that came with the wheels were too long by 3mm. Initially i used the older OE studs but one sheared off as i thibk they were too short due to thivker alloy centres.
After getting the stud drilled out by fiat I used a set of 4 x 3mm spacers made to fit snuggly over the stud holes. I think the guy still sells them on here, they're made to the exact PCD and are heat treated.
Since using the studs supplied with my wheels i've had no problems.

No problems either, and I'm on wobblies to compensate for 4 4x100 pitch circle on BSA rims.

same here! 4X100 with wobblys... and cars been rock solid...
Sounds very much like an offset prob
everyone gets wound up when things go wrong.. best bets just to get on with it.. if your not happy sell it and buy something else...

luck of the draw IMHO i bought a mbk 125 scoot in 2002 for 4k had 14 warranty claims in 6 months... that did wind me up !!

all my cars needed up to now is:
new cd changer
new map sensor
new air con pipe
underbelly tray
back box exhaust

soon gonna need new upper sus mounts too but oh well

some migh complain at that but where else can you get a car with all the gadgets and gizmos for 3500-4000 and only 21k miles

next ones going to be a fiat deffo..

If that's all that's gone wrong then you'll have a hard time finding something with less problems.

Apart from the clutch everything else is optional, wear+tear consumables, or likely caused by incorrectly specified wheels.

Witness says it was a taxi but the firm denying all knowledge of it!! Quite simple to handle, if you're pretty sure which firm it was, or even better, if you have a VRN take it to the police. I'm sure you know that leaving the scene of an accident is quite a serious criminal offence.
