i was thinking the other day about the 'city' button we have and the 'sport' button the panda 100hp has, and was wondering, since the setup is all electric, is it just as simple as a resistance alteration, so in theory, would we be able to modify it into a panda 100hp sport button?

as handy as city mode is, im concerned with steeing weight at speed, over 100 it doesnt inspire a lot of confidence, whilst with hyro-electric setups in other cars, the steering weight increases as speed increases

How often do you get that fast in this country to notice

I personally cant see a problem with it :D, but it is quite a good idea for a sport mode to sharpen up the steering and make it more solid :p

i do not believe that it is speed that kills. its incompitent (spelt wrong?) driving and lack of driving sense that is the biggest killer. i am shocked at the vast majority of british drivers.

anyways, back to topic (y)

I've got to say that one of the strongest features of the Stilo is its amazing stability at very high speeds :spin:

I also believe speed does kill (at the very least insect and animal life are killed routinely due to speed) I like to have a bit of fun on the roads  so I'm hardly likely to put someone else down who does too - but that doesn't stop me seeing the risks taken. :(

Oz, download Firefox as your browser, you can install a dictionary and have spell checker for everything you type (y) (www.firefox.com)

I believe that although speed is a killer, it's more a case of doing an inappropriate speed rather than speeding as such. IE: 45 in a 30 zone is inappropriate, but 100 on a motorway in good conditions, I don't see as massively dangerous. That's not to say it's something I do routinely though.

Argo, I know what you mean, I love back roads round here (ain't Dorset great?!:D) and there's nothing better than tanking down them in the summer (especially the range roads round near me) but this time of year, it pays to lose the speed a bit. But I've said before, and I'll say again, the vast majority of near misses I've had are not down to me nailing it, but idiots not looking before they pull out, driving with their main beam on, or generally not paying attention.

I'm past my 'nail it everywhere' phase. I don't see the point now, at the very least because my 1.2 drinks like an alky at high speeds.

Anyway...:Offtopic:

Sport button would be good, I'm not entirely sure what it does in the 100hp, but something to alter the suspension setup and fuelling would be awesome :D

i dont think its quite as simple as that... although it does sound intresting, weres the electrical guru, *rich* ;)

also when the city button is engaged, it is disabled when you go over its either 29/30mph and its not meant to be used permenatly. Its just a parking/manuvering aid

personally i think the stilo is a solid car when at speed and i have all the confidence in my car whilst driving at high speeds!

.......and onto the subject, speed kills! I think that if you drive to the conditions, be it road, weather, traffic and be truthfull of your own capabilities to handle the car. The saying "the right place, at the right time!" i think its fine. I hate people driving like ****s in built up areas and its just not young drivers that are offenders  lol

Just thinking logically, why would you want a button that when turned off makes your car perform less . You would want the car at its best at all times surely ?
Well, speaking from experience, I wouldn't want mine 2 inches closer to the road all the time :(

Quite a few top end cars offer a normal/sports setup by the touch of a button (Porsche 911 turbo for one)

I just remember the Top Gear episode with the V10 M5 which was terrible untill Clarkson pressed the 'M' mode button, surely any serious driver would put it in M mode and leave it, rather than adjust gear change settings, diff settings, engine power settings etc etc everytime you got in for a drive.

I can understand electronic suspension settings being changed ie for motorway cruise then for the twisted stuff, but not for limiting the power untill you want more, but thats just me

i think the stilo is great at cruising speed. very sturdy and i wouldnt say the suspension was too light?

you know the astra has a sport button too. iirc the ecu has two maps and the sport button switches between the two. afaik the stilo ecu can only hold one map.

astra owners can get both maps mapped. if it was possible on the stilo i would have one for economy and one for fun :D
