Technical Trolley jacking point?

I like another poster jack mine up under the front wishbone bolt and under the rear axle where it joins the car.

Seems to work of there.

I know this is an old post sorry.

Having never used a trolley jack before I want to be sure I get it in the right place. I don't want to use where the pin locator holes are as I will be putting my axle stands there. Can i use the square beam that runs along the underside of the car if i put a bit of wood in between. I can't see why not but just want to be sure I'm not going to damage anything. I don't have a big enough peice of wood to make a sill 'adapter' yet either.

This is the beam i'm on about

Thanks in advance

Generally i dont like puttin a jack near the suspension arms, u can bend stuff that way... If i remember correctly the crease of the sill runs the length of the car, usually i find u can jack on the crease a bit up from the jacking point if you wanna put an axle stand at the eyelet. Ive used the box section u mention on other cars with no problem, altho i generally jack at the jacking point and then place the axle stand at the box section, i still leave the jack in place generally even tho its resting on the axle stand, its good practice

Hey mate im sure uve done this by now, but i just changed a rear bearing tonight, i jacked at the jacking point and put axle stand at the box section... I got the wrong bearing so car was supported on axle stand and box section for 4 days... On inspection, no deformation to the box section so it seems well able to support the car

Thanks. All done and dusted, I used the box section with a bit of wood and it was fine. Got hold of a more suitable piece and made a sill 'adapter' now too.
