I get a phone call this morning at work from the fiance. "I was on my way to my mums earlier when a policeman stepped out with a speed camera" "How fast was you going" "35mph in a 30mph...I THINK"

:bang:

Dont forget that your speedoes can sometimes think you are going faster then you are .

Either way mate, i hope everything turns out well in the end.

Tell her that shes got to make you breakfast in bed till the end of the year for that now :D

Im not...(n)

I just praying that we dont recieve a letter! In January it'll be 5 years since i recieved an SP30 so by then we would both have totally clean licenses!

Sorry, i wasn't laughing at the fact your fiance may have been caught, i was laughing at the way you worded your post.
I assumed the car was yours and she had borrowed it, hence the phone call, it rang bells with me.

lol, won't she take the 3 points?

My girlfriend got caught by a new static gatso that went up near us last year 3 times in one week, i had to take 1 of them or she would have lost her license.

Its ok mate! I wasnt meaning it in a awkward way!!.:)

She's a named driver on it, i have a company astra van so she uses it for going to work and back!

Do those had held speed guns actually take a picture as well? or are they just for measuring speed? because someone i work with said that unless there was another police car a hundred yards down the road (which would then pull you over) then she might be ok. There was no other police car and she wasnt pulled over.

I would say that the hand held ones are to give more of an indication, i don't believe they take photo's.
She may be lucky then!!

no they don´t take picks, as you said, it´s to measure speed, if you´re over, a cop will stop you further down, plus there´s a 5 mile allowance for all cameras so you´re most likely ok mate : )

Lol, to think how much money they rake in from these gatsos. Im in that process of waiting to see if a letter will be coming through my letterbox, was on my way down the M11 yesterday on the section where it approaches London and the A406 in the slow lane doing about 50ish as a rough estimate (speed camera being set to 50mph dropping from motorway speeds of 70-80mph), maybe 1-2 miles over the speed limit in the slow lane. Anyway, as im driving over the marking lines these couple of blonde Essex chicks in a Seat Leon Cupra are in the fast lane next to me overtaking me and going over the lines about to overtake the car in front of me when all of a sudden there is a flash from the camera. Being the only two cars going over the markings at the time are me in the Stilo and the ladies in their cupra, so im thinking was it really them that got flashed or me, they must have been doing over 55. But I will be quite mad :bang: if I get penalty points and a fine if im only doing 1 mile above the speed limit.

Well since I'm a speical I can tell you for a fact that.

Cameras are set at 10% whatever speed limit the road is (unless the person has installed them incorrectly and so on). So if doing over 33 and past a gatsos in a 30 area you'll get found out. Mobile cams depending on what type it is, the officer can set it to what they like really. If I ever get put on it (heh hate them jobs) and I'm in a 40 I set the "van cams" as I call them :p to 50 as anyone over that is driving stupidly.

Since from way you write you're post. "hairdryer" so highly dout she will get done for it.

Other day close where I live is bigggg ass hill, I was coming down hill with brakes on still doing 35ish and nothing. I wouldn't have too much to worry about dude, hopefully

P.S. Don't let them drive you're car ;)

you can't be done for only going 1-2mph over the speed limit when your in a 50mph zone. 10% error is allowed for speedos. almost all speedos read a couple of percent higher than your actual speed from the factory anyway, so you'll probably find that your actual speed was less than you thought you were doing anyway.

Similar happened to me on the North Circular. I wasn't speeding but the guy overtaking me was. I didn't hear anything.

The idea of the white markings is that the speed can be calculated from the photo. They will have covered a greater distance so it will be easy to see who was speeding.

How long ago was it when speed cameras were introduced .

Theres some in a village just up the road from me that focus on the level crossing, it is a 40mph zone. Im not sure if they are actual speed cameras, or wether they trigger when the railway barriers close to let a train through - so as to catch the light jumpers

Thanks for the comments guys, i feel a little more reassured now. Fingers crossed.

Oh, and breakfast in bed saturday morning was gooood!!
