Tuning Cold Air Feed - the implications

I was thinking of this issue the other day and the easiest option would be to remove the Grill in question cut the middle out and put a mesh in it. The only problem is cutting and fixing the mesh to make it look tidy but i am considering fabricating a cold air feed for this space and put a Cinq style letter box cover over the vent hole.
MF Racing i thought that you already put your car on the Dyno. Where are you going to have it done.

All true, but only a complete and utter muppet would fail to take water "issues" into account with any modification/ re-design :D

This is why I made a special point when Matt ordered his GSR Induction kit and told him to get an under tray as soon as possible ..didn't want any nasty mishaps happening to the 1.6 owners after all ..we don't need another river boy incident do we Abz ;)

Its just going on the dyno to see how much power its putting out after the remap mate. Its going here this weekend http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/rollingroad.html :)

just had a look at this thread... would the 1.6 Gsr kit benefit from an enclosed cold air feed??

ordered one last week, just had a thought??

Can you give us more details on what you mean by "Enclosed" and if you mean the CDA then forget it they don't give as much power as the GSR kit ..and birds like to take up residence in them :)

Well just had a thought of whether it would be worth making a cold air feed for the GSR.. possibly from the front grille or possibly enclosing it somehow with a feed... but after thinking about it... it might restrict it... and also forgot the situation of water getting in...

best just to bolt it on then?? and leave it??

If it works don't fix it ..always been my philosophy :) but as its been said on this thread always be aware you are running with an open filter (y)
