So im going to change my tires soon and i was thinking of putting a tire pressure monitoring system. Have any of you guys put one? any suggestions in makes and models? I would prefer a sensor mounted inside the tire and not the screw on valve ones.
Wouldn't bother myself - the sensors are expensive, you'd then need to install the hall sensors in the arches, and the dashboard won't be programmed to understand the sensors messages.
I don't know if there are any aftermarket systems though?
:yeahthat: My Unis are Nitro filled... supposed to improve tyre pressure consistency across a wider temp. range and minimise air leakage. Only had them fitted a week so will have to see
i dont think the extra weight should affect it so much. I see it from the point of view if you end up getting a flat on the highway. Of what i understand the whole kit goes for about 220 euros. Nikos for example was doing about 200klm when the alarm sounded form the tpms that pressure was falling. By the time he managed to stop the tire was destroyed. imagine if it blew at that speed? As for the nitrogen i was all for it until i read this article and the guy has a point there it no point to it.
Nitro filling and topping up was free where I bought my tyres from. I have 16VT Coupe alloys, which are prone to rim air leaks so figured the greater particle size of nitrogen would reduce this risk. Rumour has it that nitro filling also improves tyre life (I do 23,000 miles / 37,015 km a year) so thought it was worth trying for free
I actually check my tyre pressures once a week with an old fashioned pencil type guage, more often if I think there is a problem... and people think i'm strange
