Hi guys, just a quickie...

on a 55 plate Stilo diesel Station Wagon, should the fuel flap lock? I had a 53 plate before and it did, I have brought this up as a warranty issue and the dealers are telling me they don't lock (but then said it can be released from the inside!!!)

My old one used to lock when the car was locked, this one is "openable" all the time.

Should lock. Open up and see the moving white thing. Diffucult to see if it doesn't work... But if it worked: Open the flap and press the lock button on the remote. You should see movement on the lock then.

Openable from the inside? On a Stilo?

You should have a cord on the inside of the right hand compartment that lets you have access to the rear shock ..and if the flap lock should fail you have to option to pull the cord to release the flap ..

I have found that many dealers have not reinstalled the cord tho after fitting a new petrol flap probably because they have a problem threading it back through or they just cant be arsed

I have found tho on some later models they have taken out the central locking from the flap and fiat have fitted a locking cap instead ..

Thanks all, I thought it should, just wondered because its a diesel it may not be a requirement that it locks.

I'll have a bit more of a moan at them :)

Oh, is that what the red cord is for... :) I have never dared pulling it in case it shut off the fuel supply - as some safety valve. Learnt something new today aswell.

No doubt you thought it was for the ejector seat on the passanger side weeeeeeeeee :D I read your thoughts better that you think morty ;)

Hi
The lock for the fuel flap was was no longer fitted on a 55 plate and the locking fuel cap was optional, done to save money again I think

Yeah, mine i have to poke it one side and then it just pops open? Is there another way of opening the flap??

Only if you have the cord inside the right hand little compartment in the boot its there should the central locking fail and you pull the cord then to release the flap ..its not there for ejecting Deano in the middle of an argument :D

Right note to self - look in right hand small compartment!
