Doesn't have to be done on examiner, my local garage reset my service due message 
a mate of mine tried it last week on his £2,000 Snap On diagnostics machine, and couldn't! I told him he wouldn't be able to...did he listen? Nope!

You can have the service message switched off permanently by a dealer with examiner if you wish, you will have to go to a dealer but only once!
Can some independants do it if they have the right software? I emailed an independant in Stockport who have a Bosch(sp?) system and they said they could reset it!
You need to take a bit of care with this. There's been a few cases on the Forum where Stilos have needed quite expensive repairs after independents have messed around trying to reset the service counter
Surely it's not so difficult to find a Fiat garage with Examiner is it - why take the risk

True, so true, but a lot of Fiat dealers won't do it unless you can prove the service was carried out. Some won't do it unless they service it themselves.

Thats the dilemma, an independant will service the car for a reasonable price and not stiff you, but then I would trust Fiat engineers being able to reset the counter properly without any(if any) trouble.
But it all depends on what's agreed on the service.
I always say "....and you will reset the service counter after the service and stamp the book?" I always get the reply "Certainly Sir".
That's a contract!
Twice Nationwide Autocentres have now had to take my Stilo to the local Fiat main agents to have it reset because they couldn't do it (no idea what they paid - but I know I didn't :slayer: )

Then I shall make sure I say that! Ive got about 50 days now until her first service with me!
I home service mine, although it does need to go in for a cambelt change, that's something I won't be doing myself.
