So, just sat here thinking where my little project Stilo will lead to.

I guess there isnt a great deal you can do with the JTD engine to increase power beyond a remap and and exhaust etc.

What I was wondering is what engine conversions would be possible in a Stilo, would a bigger Alfa engine fit or perhaps a total change to a petrol engine of some sort?

Does anyone know of attempts to showhorn differnt engines into the front of our beloved little fiats?

Your best bet is probably to go for a Alfa 2.4 JTD engine and gearbox, then let the mods go from there, suspension and brakes also would need uprating.

Funny you say that!

I have been reading up on the Tarox big brake kits for the front and rear of the Stilo, big money but what the hell if I am going all out.

Things like the exhaust after the turbo/downpipe may need custom stuff, but the 2.4 JTD wouldn't be too different from the 1.9. The 2.4 petrol fits in Abarth form so the dimensions are similar and a 5 speed box also, although a 6 speed would be nice but space probably won't alllow for that. Things like gear shift mechanisms, drive shaft fit into hubs etc are some work but not so hard as to be impossible.

Just what can be done with the 1.9 JTD? can a 16valve head be fitted, or a bigger turbo/intercooler? are the tuning possibilities the same as a turbo petrol?

If 160bhp is safe on standard parts what can the engine take if worked on?

Drop a 1.9mjet 150 in ur car is your best bet, with a remap you should see 200bhp, may get another 10-20 from exhaust and induction kit, so 215-230bhp shouldn't be a problem.

Why dont you sell up and buy an Abarth or have you already gone too far with the mods to turn back now. You seem to have a rather large amount of money so to change the actual car wouldnt make that much of a dent in the pocket. It might even end up cheaper in the long run.

An Abarth will be slower than a 150mjet I'm afraid and its drinks fuel. Go for the 150 mjet mate!!! :slayer:

How could you even think I would want to sell up. I really like my multiwagon, thats not to say I havn't looked at other cars but unless I spend mega bucks I really havent driven or seen a car I like enough that does everything the Stilo does.

As far as having to much money, its more a case of enjoying my car and doing things with it that give a value for money improvemnet to the cars qualities. With out a shadow of a doubt I will have the brakes done before the enginbe has anything more than a remap.

If or when I decide to put efforts into the engine I just want to get an idea of direction into working the 1.9 JTD or dropping a differnt power plant in that gives a big improvement to the cars performance.

The multijet idea sounds good in that I guess the weight of the unit is similar to the JTD and therfore gives a bhp/tonne gain greater than the 2.4JTD.

What I would think of doing is out of car tuning in as much as an engine rebuild with work done on a bed ready to go into the car so it is all done with out the car off the road too long.

Guess it would be ?

120BHP in my 8v mjet is not enough any more

a remap is what you need (y)

you should be able to get at least 150bhp with it :D and lots of torque (around 240lb-ft plus) (y)

red.dot are youre people to see as they have deals on and there is also a fiat forum meet down there on 2nd feb :p

But there most be more to life eeh Stilo multijet 120 then just remap ?
VGT from multijet 130/150 + some other fun stuf before a remap should be done.

Im not sure but remap would be my first port of call if you wanted more power :D

could up it to at least 150bhp or upwards, then an induction kit, maybe a better exhaust. then do little tweaks here and there.

you might see around 170bhp if youre lucky if not more :D
