i fitted an OMP strut brace to my car on Tuesday and it was all good(y) until today when my car cut out going round an island(n) -very embarrassing having to push my car off the island:bang: . i found that the clip holding a connector to the ECU had snapped and allowed the cable to come out of its socket-turning my engine off. see pic, anyone know of a possible way to get this to stay on? cable ties/glue/electrical tape wont work. id rather smash the window and take the bonnet off and hold the thing in place than go to Norris Bros to get it fixed. any help?

Didnt you get my last PM :D looks as though your going to have to get the whole connector block as the red bracket that locks the connector in place is part of it and your not going to be able to get the red locking devise on its own its definatly a dealer job as well :(

Edit I just found out its not the red locking bracket but another part on the left hand side [small black piece that has snapped off]

i've had to take it out:mad: i need to either get a slimline plug fitted so it will sit under the brace, get someone to mod the brace/sell me a better one or scrap the idea and find a good welder to fix the holes i drilled into my poor car:(

...tiny bit of cheap plastic is fine...its that chunk of metal you fitted thats done it!

Haha. Good point. Sorry, but it was very well written.

Maybe the strut brace wasn't designed for the 1.4 litre engine. Or has the engine layout changed perhaps? Phil, you might need to take this into concideration when a new bar leaves the drawing table.

Morten.

Many considerations have been looked at on the new GSR strut brace for the stilo .. I even found the turret plate on the drivers side was hindered by a new mounting point on the water expansion tank and I had to put a cutout on the plate that side to accommodate the mounting [left hand brace mount]..to me the new tank mounting is a total waist of time as the original was adequate and I only wish that fiat were that quick in sorting the suspension spring issue  ..refinement of the now fitted brace is already in progress as there is always some thing that can be improve upon once you have built an item ..testing is under way and will be for many thousands of miles to access the brace which IMO seem to have been a success :)

Pic of brace below..

There is no 1.4 brace Ollie they send you one that fits all and ..and TBO fits badly on most as it usually obstruct some thing unless you move it ..and in your case the ECU (n)

i just checked and your very right, i did buy it over a year ago, are there any better alternatives? i cant see how it could be improved that much on the 1.4, unless it leaned more towards the firewall? becaue it cant go any higher.

As of this time OMP are the only producer of the stilo strut brace and have the market to them selves buy I hope in the future that is going to change ..only time will tell ..

i found a company that will fit a custom carbon brace like the murcielago roadster for several thousand, rigid! shame i cant find the site anymore(i should start using favorites) now i need to find one that will do it for buttons(y)
