Having read the previous threads on the fiat stilo aircon issue, I am still unable to source the fault.

Mine is a Stilo, 5dr, 1.6 Dynamic 53 plate.

Compressor is working, it all worked fine in Kwik fit after re gassing then worked for about 5 miles, no gas left in the system.

Can anyone let me know how to find out where it may be leaking from. All pipes look in good condition and have had a new one recently. Is there any way of checking it without forking out for another regas.

All help greatly appreciated

CJ

if you go to a proper air con engineer they will pump in a neutral gas and will be able to detect the leak quickly. The fact you lost the gas in 5mins shows Kwik Fit didn't do any kind of pressure check and that's money down the drain. Go to a proper air con engineer. It will be cheaper and a more reliable fix

Thanks for that, much appreciated, now I just have to find somewhere :)

yellow pages or just google. When Kwik fit say they do a recharge then they do no more than you could do with a refill canister from Halfords. They're pricy cans though at £39.99

Thanks guys, will get searching tomorrow. Is it worth going back to KF and have a whinge??

Of course, helps the day a long:)
But you asked for a recharge and that's what you got.
Proper air con engineers will check your system for leaks and problems, see if it holds vacuum, refill it properly and check the system holds afterwards.

Kwik Fit actually told me they couldn't do mine after they pressure tested it, so they're not all bad!

Went to the local garage and they injected the UV die and found the leak quickly as mine was a bad leak too (you could hear it coming out). Normally they say come back after a week and they'll shine a UV torch.

my local garage quoted me £410 for diagnostics, parts and labour! I found another place that said if I get the pipe (£60) they'd fit it and regas it for £90, that was a breath of fresh air ;)
