Has anybody ever had a skywindow replaced at a fiat dealership or any other garage. Mine has seized and its looking like a replacement is needed. The teeth on the worm gear are worn, so will probably not work even if its unseized.

When you say seized, does that mean you cant move it with the hex key?

Yep totally seized, the front panel lifts approx 10mm, thats it

Well at least it's seized shut and not open!!

Cant it be repaired?

Fiat have told me its seized, have offered to try to unseize it at a cost of £300, but accept no responsibility if any parts are broken during the process, have been quoted a cost of £2000 plus for new replacement, which I guess if they do fail to unsieze it successfully is what will have to be paid on top of the £300 to get the roof in working order, webasto cannot legally supply any parts or advice, something to do with a copyright law, the car is 5 years old, surely these roofs have a life expectancy of longer than that, the roof has never been misused and the car has been serviced at regular intervals.

am currently trying to find a second hand unit via firstchoice, more expensive but legal, apparently the removal and fitting is quite a task, its been a few years since my motor vehicle collage days so not to confident to undertake the job myself, just wondered if anybody else had one professionally fitted, The fiat technician wasn't to confident of a successful fitting either, would rather have it done by an outfit who has successfully fitted one before.

Thanks for your posts Dan, I checked the link, saw the photos, that took some balls to attempt that.

I've said time and time again that it's important to keep the skyroof clean as it picks up a lot of dirt which most people never see (stand up in the car and you'll see it).

I'd entrust the job to a Fiat dealership who's had one apart before as the headlining needs to come down for starters.
