Hi,

i know on some stilo models ther is a 12v (???) power outlet in the boot, or so im lead to believe! is this on all versions of the stilo? if yes where will i find it!?

There's one in my 2002 active model and that is the base model, it may have been omitted from later (meaner) specs so best check with the dealer/brochure.
The socket (standard cigaret lighter fitting)is on the right hand side of the boot near the top and the light is part of the same unit. The only use I've found for it is to charge my camera battery whilst I was charging my phone using the interior socket. There's a little cubby hole in the 5 door boot next to the socket so I put the charger in there.

Seems to vary from model to model, year to year, car to car!

Open the boot, look at the boot light, next to it you'll either have a 12v socket, or a curry hook. My car has the curry hook!

My car doesn't have it, but the wiring loom is there !

The part is listed on the Fiat parts database, but not with any sort of sensible recognisable name - It can be found by examining the wiring loom for the rear of the car though.

Why don't you buy one then James?

If the wiring is taped behind the panel like mine is, its a 2 minute job - can look up the part number & price for your if your interested.

I'll take a look tomorrow for you, if I do it now I'll wake the kids!

I know where it is on the parts CD, its listed as....wait for it...... a reseptacle !!! If you saw the parts CD you'd appreciate why the dealers have so much trouble !!!

ok StiloBoy - here are the details - best to get the dealer to check it is the correct thing before you part with any cash as it really isn't that clear on the ePER database - its shown in the right place on the car and looks about right, but I can't be sure !!

I just noticed Twincamms saying he's a Fiat parts man, so he should be able to confirm whether this is the right part :)

Has anyone fitted their own power outlet yet? i have just picked up my 03 active 1600 and it doesn't have a power outlet.....

Out of curiosity, does anyone else find that the standard fag lighter is to big for normal power units... My in car dvd pwer just slips back out..

Cheers

Sorry to resurrect this one...

...but has anyone fitted the lighter socket in place of the curry hook? I picked up the part from the dealer yesterday (cheers for the part number PJP), and went to fit it. However, what I thought was a plug in amongst the wiring bundle behind the curry hook turned out to be an inline diode or something!

Does anyone know how to connect up the socket?

Cheers,
Rich

I fitted one to my 53 dynamic ..... works fine ... took the curry hook off and fished around in the wiring loom ... there should be a proper unit that the socket plugs into (think the plug was white) ... you can pull the storage box fully out to get a better view of what you are doing as the proper wire may have dropped down a bit
