Hello new member here :)

I've been having some trouble with my stilo - car struggles to accelerate. I took it to a diagnostic garage and was told the throttle body was on it's way out, so i bought a 're-conditioned' one from a breakers, which the diagnostic chap setup & it worked fine for a week then failed again:mad:

I don't want to chance a re-conditioned one again and from the Fiat dealers a new one is around £650(n) can anyone reccomend a somewhere to buy one, for a better price:slayer: (cars a 1.6 dynamic '02)

Cheers

Well I wonder if this another one of those "Fault code says something's up with this- change the part" kind of syndromes. The throttle body gets into a mess if it loses communications between it and the ecu and it quite simply gets lost.

Comms can be lost internally (component fault) or externally through the wiring and connectors

The fact that they changed the throttle body and it was ok for a short period but then did the same again sure sounds like an external fault ie thottle body electrical connector and that would be first on my list for a look at. Check the pins and use some contact cleaner to clean up the contact surfaces. You might find that's all it needs.

Check through the Stilo Guides for how to clean up the throttle body valve as a sticky valve there will cause all sorts fo problems

Whenever you mess with the throttle body though you need to do a throttle body reset so it finds out where everything is

DON'T TOUCH THE GAS OR ANY OTHER PEDAL
Ignition on- wait one minute
Ignition off- wait one minute
then take her on a normal drive around

Next I'd get into dismantling and checking out the throttle body internal electrical tracks. But that's just me.

Makes sense about the bad connection, I bet there was nothing wrong with the old throttle bod, with the new one working for a short time and them going again so soon after, hopefully sugests it's a connector fault. i'll spend some time tomorrow cleaning all the connectors and checking for any damaged cables and hopefully this will cure it:cool:

It certainly won't do any harm but use CONTACT CLEANER available from Halfords or Maplins and not WD40 or suchlike as you're trying to clean up the contacts surfaces and not lubricate or grease them:)

Handy link Phil(y)
Do you know if they do Stilo 1.6?

The rear light cluster is removed by these 3 x 10mm nuts (don't drop them into the abyss below) and the connector which causes the problem is this one 2b. Clean up the contact points of the connector to the board

Hi guys newbie here.

I've just brought my stilo back 02 Dynamic 5 door - I've got the same problem - garage said its on it way out and will need replacing. Was wonder if you had any joy cleaning the contacts?

Have been looking at buying a reconditioned part but after reading your thread im hesitating a bit.

Cheers
