1.8 Yellow :3 I'm picking it up at the weekend. So much faster and light steering and how close gears are compared to what I'm used too. (N Reg Ford Fiesta x_X 1.1 so mega slow, heavy steering, crap gearboxs lol)

41k on the clock. Airbag light is on/aircon doesn't work. He said will fix the light and already fixed aircon just needs regas which doing for me and sticking 12 months MOT on it.

£3500 Not bad price really :)

Overall cont is mint. Seems fuel cap got replaced at some point so that needs resanding down and painting again and theres little bit that needs fixing at bottom of one of wheel archs but the few quid I got it down off will easily cover all that. I want the black plastic strips on the doors painting too anyways so just going to go to a good body shop I know and get quote for it all.

Other things:

I'm going to get a service and cam belt changing soonish.
Needs cd player (ipod compt <.<) as it's only tape one built in.
De-badge
Find some claws to put on it [help me :(]
Rear/Back windows fully tinted,
Get some good clifford alarm put on it
Some nice small stainless steel twin exhaust on it.

Not into all lowering crap <.< I'm going to find it hard slowing down to go over bumps as it is standed =p

I'll post some pics when I get it at weekend and give it good clean *pokes his mate who does mobile valeting*

Welcome to the fold mate, I have the rear 3 windows tinted in my black 3dr, although I no longer have alloys on it (wouldnt mind some again though now i can get insured with them!) My tints were done by www.tintman.co.uk and the RAC man who removed my fronts (got pulled after law changed) said they were the best job he had ever seen (and a b@st@rd to get off!!)

Advice with the Head Unit is to scrap it, get a surround and an aftermarket one with the Ipod stuff built in, then run the wiring out of the upper glovebox- or if your feeling creative if you search the stilo forums, some converted the cubby hole under the aftermarket HU into an Ipod holder!

De-badging, not my thing but with the age of the car on the yellow parts, it maybe a different shade of yellow underneath, so watch out

Yes I agree on the painting of the rub strips be very careful with broom yellow ..so many people have found that the respray does not match the existing colour and it stands out like a sore thumb (n)

1.8 is a very good engine ..(y)

Heh, we shall see :p I know few people who should able to sort me out anyways :) but got other stuff to sort out first.

If got mine like how low minimads is I'd mess my car up going over bumps which I do a lot of on a daily bases. Have to go soo slowly over the bumps with a lowered car just don't have the time and hassle, thou does make the cars look nicer etc just not something I'd personaly want for me.

Something to just improve the actual suspension without doing too much to the ride height wouldn't be too much of a problem.

Any suggestions for parts etc welcomed :) nothing mega pricey thou :p

Well mine is a high rider not lowered and I chuck it every where ..its all down to driving skill and a lot of bottle

I was thinking 'bout lowering.

After couple of months riding it - no way. Maybe it should be little stiffer, but not much. It holds road very well with factory setup and 195/65R15 (JTD).

Anyway, as longer as I am driving it, I am little bit far away from lowering idea.

Very interesting to hear that comment as this Forum produces some strong views on lowering :chin:

If you accept the definition of "improved handling" as any change to the suspension which allows you to get from A to B quicker then I'd argue there's no significant difference between standard and after-market springs (on the assumption you're a competent driver to start with)

Against that, I don't think there can be any question that after-market springs:

PROS
  • Improve the looks of the Stilo dramatically
  • Reduce wallowing
  • Reduce body roll (although not dramatically)
  • Don't break!
  • Generally tightens up the front end and increases top speed (not proven ;) )
CONS
  • High kerbs can be a problem
  • Ride quality suffers on poor surfaces (possibly grip too)
  • Likelihood of bottoming on narrow country lanes.
  • Possible premature drive shaft wear.
I'd say the Stilo does have inherent defects in it's chassis (few cars are perfect) but changing the springs has little effect on these at all. As PNL has pointed out, it's these very 'defects' which make it fun to drive (y)

It holds road quite well. Not as 156, but it is quite fine even with fast and nervous drive. My late car had 100% suspension taken out from used race car that was competing in championship of country. Actually, it was more "suspension" then suspension, because the car was as confortable as the tyres were soft or stiff. Girl passengers were holding tits on this quite unpleasent ride.

I'm just explaining why I was riding soft winter tyres last two years, because I've grown up in the meantime and have little different view of ride. Can't walk arround with the kidneys in my ass. Luckily they haven't fallen off.

So, now you know what I was riding before. My first impression when driving Stilo was like driving a f'ck'n boat. But! It's not soft as Megane, not at all. Softer then Passat, but still can't see any problems in holding.

I'm writing too much and missing the point:
The car holds road better then the driving seat holds my ass.

First buy damn Recaro, then 5 point seatbelt, and then change the suspension, if you want to make any use of fast cornering.
