My Stilo skyroof is well and truly knackered, i've tried the reset system and this does nothing.

The problem happened when the first blade got stuck open and it started raining, instead of reseting it or having some patience my girlfriend jumped out of the car and slammed it down shut manually!!!

The skyroof now makes a repetative grinding noise when attempting to open and it won't even open manually using the key wrench thing inside the control unit.

Anyone got any tips or experience of his happening?

Thanks

Dave

I don't think you'll find anyone else who might have done that :(

I'd take it to a Fiat specialist who's had one apart before and prepare for a shock  Actually it may not be as bad as you might think as it all depends if the manufacturer allowed for such behavior at the design stage :)

Keep us informed if it's a simple answer (y)

It probably jumped all the teeth on the mechanism and now it's closed it thinks it's open and can't open any further. the front panel will probably need taking off and replacing in the correct position.

This is a guess though and with my experience of the skyroof anything can happen

Many thanks for the help, i took it round to a webasto specialist and they say they have no idea how to fix it as they are all original fiat stock parts that are used for the skyroof.

Looks like i'm going to have to take it to fiat.

Has anyone got any recomendation for a fiat dealer round south yorkshire? i used to go to Autoworld in Sheffield but they were honestly the most bent, corrupt, rip off pieces of **** i have ever dealt with.

if you fancy a little drive and have got someone to take you home, then clemo fiat in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire. they are just off the m62 so will only be half hour up the motorway.

they are a good dealer they even valet it in and out for you when done(y)

The unit is a Webasto one. They fit these to the 'A' class Mercs also. If you pull the cowling out from around the controls, it even says Webasto on the motor.

hi, i have actually fitted one of these roofs to a multiwagon!! no a bad job in all. sounds like your best bet is to fit a second hand unit out of a scrapper, think i no where there is one i will have to check???

My god you are a brave man cutting the roof off your own car.

Well done if it all works, doesnt leak and hasnt fallen on your head yet.

Thanks for the info.

If you do have details about where i can get a second hand unit and/or have advice on how to fit one i would be most grateful.

I don't really want to try and force the unit open as i may never get it shut again and with the recent weather that would be disastrous.

I presume you've done a reset sequence?

Position "1" simply raised the first flap to vent the cabin. I'd try and raise it back up with the help of the manual key winder and perhaps a little persuasion. (as BBS first suggested).

If it gets stuck up and it starts raining hard then I'm sure your GF will be able to fix it again for you ;)
