Do them blue hoses just go over the black ones? or are they a replacement?

EDIT: nevermind just read through the post and they're covers, first thing on my list then (y)

Would I have any trouble with removing the engine cover on an Abarth? I doubt water would get that far up the engine bay anyway, unless we had floods like the other day.

I removed mine and had no problems and I have been out in all kinds of weather in it some say its there to protect the ecu and I suppose thats fare comment but I have had no problems with mine ..it holds in a bit of heat in there as well to the cover and thats why I originally took it off and have never looked back since ..you have to admit you would rather be looking at a dressed engine than a drab and boring engine cover however well its painted :D

Oh and what colour should I get? My car is black.

Thats up to you but pick a colour that goes with black and set one against the other and it will look great ..lift your bonnet up at a show and guess who's car the crowd will be looking at ;)

Hiya Dan mate,

All I did on mine was went to the local car shop.
Bought:

1x spraycan of platic primer (so that the paint sticks to the plastic and doesnt flake off in a few weeks)
1x spraycan of standard grey primer
1x spraycan of silver paint (or whatever colour you like)
&
1x spraycan of clear laquer

Cleaned the covers, let them dry, plastic primer 1 or 2 coats, primer 1 or 2 coats, then paint few coats then to finish laquer.

Job Done and I think it looks quite smart :)

check out the pictures from fastfest the other day they are in the gallery!

I'd rather never have to lift the bonnet and look at the engine at all! Looking out of the windscreen is my preferred view:D Calling it dressed makes me think of crab!
Your blue pipes do look nice......you should colour code the strut brace for maximum bling!
As for what colour with black........red or silver definitely.

Well I've changed my mind completley now and painted the engine and battery cover :D

Here's a pic of them on the car

And I used this stuff

It says it's tempreature resistant up to 150C so it shoud be ok, I'll have to wait and see :)

The paint is a bit rough around the edges, but I didn't have time to make the finishing touches today.

I am going to paint the strut brace as you suggested but it will be one of the new custom ones I am building (y)

nice very nice, looks good, would never have thought of doing that, might have to pinch your idea now:devil:

Well I didn't prime it because Halfords told me that I didn't need to  didn't really believe them though.

And I couldn't be bothered :)

If it does start to bubble then I'll prime it next time.

EDIT: I did sand it down before painting, I didn't just paint it on :p
