Howya fellas! the fuel filler flap on my car has snapped off! the feckin thing would'nt budge when i was filling up the other day and i thought a bit of gentle persuasion might help! not gentle enough!:bang:does anybody know what this little disaster is likely to cost? I know it's only plastic but what will it take to put right? i've still got the flap (just about flew off twice!)cheer(y)

Cheers fella any idea if the new one fitted will be any better than the one that went tits up i.e is it a design fault rectified or just sods law that i ended up with a ****e one?(y)

hiya tonyy, got to agree with roy, samething happened to me on 1st stilo, learnt lesson and now keep hinge oiled, got away with 1st one by finding pin same size and drilling hole to fit on the hinge,

Cheers lads(y) looks like i'll have to be more mindful in future and grease her up! I'll have to go up to sligo fiat and see what they are going to charge me for a new flap. One more thing did you lads fit the flap yerselves or will i have to get the dealership to do it?

Just to confirm,

1.8 3 door stilo. For the flap, the part number is 735368537

it's been dodgy ever since i bought it (i.e. had no bottom hinge!), and the plastic flaps have finally snapped off. Makes me fill her up to the brim so i have to visit the station less frequently though!

Had the same problem (snapped off at the hinge). Took the flap and remains of the hinge to a body shop and they stuck it with some amazing resin/glue. Refitted it and no problems since...

Heard an amusing tale at the training centre when Stilo's first came out-

After numerous complaints about the plastic flap hinges, the designer came over in a huff stating that the exact same flap assembly was fitted to a Lancia and there had been no reported faults with them...

Turned out the Lancia flap assembly was made from metal...

mine was so stiff to open but easy to close led me to believe its a lube problem . so i applied some spray white grease and its cured. opens and closes smoothly now .
