Ok, Irene doesn't exist, just thought the title was amusing.

This morning I've received great news from my dealer, who emailed the area warranty person yesterday to authorise a claim - and it has been :D.

Car is now booked in on the 5th July for a new variator. Going to ask them to put in a new cambelt whilst they're there, so it's all new and spanking :D.

Great service as ever - again, goes to show that be nice to them, you'll be rewarded - to the tune of £500 worth of engine work for free, a courtesy car for two days at no charge and all sorted within 24hrs - fantastic.

I'm a happy bunny :D.

Dont forget to get them to change the tensioner as well (y) and hows the water pump any chance of getting that done for nothing while your at it :chin:

Lol, I can't work miracles :p.

Was thinking of buying the FIAT Cambelt "Kit" - tensioners and belts. I'll ask them about water pump, see what they reckon.

That's it if you buy the cam belt kit you should be OK ..just ask them for the old parts back ;) funnily enough this used to be done by garages back in my day but you don't see it done nowadays ..good luck with the water pump they will probably look at the mileage of your car and go from there but what actually happens when you remove the belt and replace it is the whole of the old setup is altered with regard to belt tension etc and the new setup can then affect the bearings in the old pump so push for a free pump as well ;)
