Just interested to know poeples opinions on sideskirts on the stilo. I personally think that stilos look alot better with the skirts, although my brother seem to to think stilos look just as good without them.

What do you think?

I like them, on my 'Abarth'. They make the shape a bit more aggressive - it would be very demure otherwise - but at the same time they're not too 'in-your-face'. I recently polished them with cutting compound, which made the scratches less noticeable and brought up a huge shine.

I think they get a hard time with foot scuffs (getting in and out) and abrasion from cleaning off dirt. Now that I've waxed them properly, I think they'll stay looking better.

They're not really all that practical - and you do have to wonder if they make the aerodynamics worse (the air not able to roll up from under the car). 100 years ago, they might have been called "running boards"

EDIT: one other snag (not visible in that pic) is the dimpled-effect caused by the thin plastic and the fixings :( The door rub-strips suffer a similar effect, maybe after collisions with objects. I prefer the textured-black of the skirts and trims on my Uno Turbo - more practical.

They dont look that good on a 5dr simply because the rear of the skirt doesnt line up with the rear bumper spoiler and I havnt found one yet that does :bang:

You need a nice 3 door then!!!:slayer:

My Stilo came with them from the factory - I only found this out when I came to pick it up!

I'd say the OEM ones are better looking than the boxy "Brio"/Schumacher ones too. My bro's 150MJet came without them, and he purchased both the originals and the Brio's, and decided that neither looked good, which I agree. Think it's quite colour dependant also.

Personally, it's like leather to me - great if you've got it, but wouldn't spend money adding it.

How did he get the originals?

A new suite?? Why not get changed before sitting on it!!!:D :D
Very good Alpine - yes I make typos too

Seriously, I'll never forget the sight of this guy with his suit in tatters, blood all over his white shirt, shoes caked in mud as he told me he wouldn't be returning MY car to me.

It was just as well he came out the car while it was still moving as it ended up as a fireball

Like stilo doesn't look enought girlsh, so you put a skirt on it.

Be serious.

:D

Argonought....I'm just mischevious:D You can call me Peter!
Nidza...try writing English not pidgeon riddle:rolleyes: . I'm guessing (from my abilities as an interpreteur) that the Stilo isnt butch enough for you big boy!?

:D Just kidding.

I'm in love with this car first time I saw it on tv commercial. 3-door version is beauty, and my first diesel car. Won't buy petrol engine ever again!

Diesel???? Oh dear......no sense of fun! Diesels are great but they dont have the exhilaration or excitement of a petrol engine...but yes, they do loads of mpg and have loads of torque:rolleyes:

Loads of torque are something you don't joke with. :D Actually, there's no major difference with petrol engines, since they have much longer differential, so you can also go 100km/h with 2nd gear.

I was driving petrol all my life, and can't tell major difference (although there's lots of smoke when you press full throttle - great defansive manouver if someone is close behind). I only miss the sound of 8000rpm.

For sideskirts... I would not drill holes in the car, come on! The glue is probably the best and tightest possible solution. Also it would not allow that water and dirt stays in between the skirt and metal, if done properly. Anyway, I like this car with no major exterior upgrades. The change of wheels is a must have - presently I'm out of the budget, but will do it.

edit: once again, I'm changing my mind. Look at this beauty. http://www.stiloclub.nl/gallery/user/martini.htm

It was so hot here the last few days that the glue melted completely and skirts have come away and the skirts have softened too. Now that its not hot anymore they have pulled back into the body but obviously only held on by bolts! :(

Not happy with the fit really. I have the lester ones by the way.
