Hi,

I'm not sure if this should be here or in technical?

Anyway, Ive now saved up my pennies and I'm about to have a set of Eibachs (-30mm) fitted to my MJET Sporting.

Just one questions though before taking the plunge - does anyone have a view on whether or not this will affect the new car warranty in any way? The cars only 7 months old, so I'd hate to lose it for obvious reasons.

The car has had the front spring retainer/recall work done - if that makes any difference?

Also, is there anything else that I should be aware of before having it done - or is it just a case of have it done and enjoy?

This question has probably been raised before, so apologies in advance if it has.

Thanks all (y)

Super stroogle has had his done and he didnt have any warrenty issues although his is well out of warranty now ..have a word with your dealer they are the people you have to satisfy on this subject (y)

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, I guess the best thing would be to have a chat to the dealer as you say – I just need to think about what approach to use so they don’t get the wrong impression.

Any ideas what difference it could potentially make to the insurance – I hadn’t thought of that!

I had Eibachs on during the warranty period [even the dealership commented, saying how much better they looked].

And yes, I had warranty work done - a new selespeed gearbox actuator - BUT I also had it refused, when my driveshaft was replaced; so if there is a link between the lowering modification and a fault, that particular warranty claim won't be valid.

I can't recall my insurance going up much, then again I am an old git :p

Look in the handbook, it specifically mentions mods. Basically, if the mod can be attributed or connected to the failure, then no warranty cover for that failure. Otherwise warranty is intact.

Still enjoying mine, Ian (y)

And have replaced the wierd paper/foam factory air filter with a BMC one.
My mechanic had a great fun time replacing it - you access it from underneath, and you have to remove the turbo pipes and all sorts just to get access to the airbox

Dunno why they put it where they did, but it definately looks like a CDA unit is impossible due to space - there simply isn't any!

I do have a couple of warranty issues right now, a rattly back speaker and the 'wrong' drivers side control panel fitted at the factory - thus I have *two* sets of door mirror controls, the ones on the drivers door panel don't work :p

So we'll see what happens when it goes in for that...

Thanks for all the replies guys, its much appreciated.

I really do want to get the suspension done, not just for the ride but for the looks as well.

Dave - thanks for your input, and I'd be interested to see how you go on with your warranty given all the mods youve had done.

I think I'll have a good read through the manual and then, if I'm still unsure - give the dealer a call and sound them out.

Cheers all (y)
