Hi All,

Anyone got any advice on how to check for clutch slip?

I'm convinced I got a bit last night on the motorway. I was doing about 70 in 6th (road was very quiet and clear!) but I put my foot down a bit - I'm sure it started slipping.....

Its a 150 MJET with re-map (about 180) - 6 months old, 7.5 k miles - no other mods.

Ive taken some advice already, which points to the sheer amount of torque going through in such a high gear - which I guess makes sense - but I just thought I'd ask the forum for some advice and/or second opinions, just in case I'm missing something??

I must admit I dont think I've noitced it in lower gears - if that makes a difference??

Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

Ian, someone asked the same question not so long ago.

I'd say it sounds like you may well have a problem. Try flooring the pedal at max torque (2000 rpm maybe?) in 6th.

Mmm, thanks for all the input folks, I'm a bit unsure what to do now though.

Should I go back to the dealer and have it looked at under warranty, or is it fair to assume that the slippage is down to the extra power from the re-map and Ive just got to adjust my driving style to suit?

I wonder if it would happen on a standard un mapped MJET??

I'm trying to figure out if its the clutch or the extra power thats causing the problem??

Any thoughts - and thanks again.

I'd rate it as close to a certainty that it's due to the extra torque from the remap.

If you take it in as it is then you run the risk of invalidating your entire warranty should Fiat discover the map (which I'd guess is going to be very obvious).

The main problem you've got is that if you remove the remap in order to claim under warranty then you'll no longer have a problem anyway.
