General CN+ "CD Error" Fault - Repair/Replace?

Hi All,

I have fixed my sunroof now and am moving onto my next issue! Having recently bought the Stilo i was not aware that the Connect Nav CD player had problems playing CD's, untill i got home! I do have a CD multi changer in the glovebox, so i can play normal CD's, but my concern is with the Navteq CD. The car didnt come with a Navteq CD ( he said he lost it), heres the problem;

It loads the CD's OK, i can hear it spinning then it shows 'CD Error'. But it will only play 1 or 2 CD's from my collection, will not recognise MP3's either and will sometimes only play 1 track from the CD. I really wanted the satnav feature as i travel alot at work and was one of the reasons i bought this car!

I was wondering if anyone can throw some light on this before i shell out £100 for the new Navteq CD (which might not work), or if anyone on the forum has an old Navteq CD they could sell me to test it out that would be fab!

I think the connect has a software updated (i'm not sure how to tell) it reads 9.8 in the bottom right corner when loading up.

Any help would be really apreciated!

The Connect Nav+ unit is rather particular about what CD's it reads. Ensure that:

• You are using a branded CD-R or the original disc
• You are not using a CD-RW
• When burning a disc, you set it to burn "Disc-at-Once"
• The CD lens is clean (use a cleaning kit)

Thanks for the tip, i ordered a CD lense cleaner off ebay last night, so just waiting for that to arrive before i take it further.

I can understand that you dont want people just joining to get free CD's and i'm a few months off getting access!

I made a donation today as the forum has already saved me money, i wonder if it might speed the process up?

Repaire or replace ConNav+

Hi Folkes,

I seem to be having a problem with my connect nav+ unit that cannot be fixed. It will not read CD's just gives me 'CD ERROR' all the time. I got a lense cleaner but it wont read that either! (thus wont clean it!) so i am down to repairing it or replacing it.

I have read that i will need to be careful when replacing the unit that i have the Code for the new nav+, i cant seem to find the code to my one tho? any ideas where it might be kept?

Also i dont have the setup CD, will this be required if i replace it?

Lastly is there anyone out there with a nav+unit for sale?

I have a similar issue in my Uly'. The NAV' CD is only recognised intermittently. I am hoping that a dirty laser lens is the problem - however I have tried three different cleaning disks, but the the rt3 will only recognise one track when there are clearly more than that on the disk. Any thoughts?

Shame, I'd just sold a perfect unit on ebay a few weeks ago . . .

Repair it - AES are quite good, it's who halfords use as a company. Might be worth sending it to them as their parts availability is amazing.

If this is a factory fit unit, you will need the code for the new unit if you replace it. However, if you take the old one out and put it back in, you won't need the code.

Setup CD - we can supply if necessary.

Check ebay regularly for units - they do crop up. Change search to worldwide too as often there are units in italy.

just so i'm not biting more than i can chew, is it a fairly simple process to replace, plug and go?
