On da way 2 a new mission
1.2:
The tooling for the induction will be most likely be the same or very similar to the 1.4 version. Throttle body modification is under way. Cams work well in the 1.2 engine. Head work has been tested on the 1242. 16v Punto working as expected. Maps are available for all modifications. Sports cat in connection with Supersprint exhaust is available.

1.4:
Induction kit is making progress. Will get for preparation and short term testing car from dealer. Throttle body modification is under way. Cams work well in the 1.2 engine and will be soon tested on a 1.4 engine. Head work has been tested on the 1242 and should work evenly well on 1.4, but will be soon tested on 1.4. Maps are in process of being made. Some obviously can't be done as modifications haven't advanced in progress to do so.

1.6:
The first sample of the 1.6 induction has arrived yesterday. Working now on more maps. Also have aquired engine to do further modifications.

1.8:
Redesign for induction hose has stalled temporarily because of changes to the Stilo 1.8 near the battery. Maps are available.

1.9 JTD:
Hoping to see test car. Aquired 1.9 engine for further modifications. Induction kit is soon to be started. Maps are available.

2.4:
The tooling is nearly finished. Also I am looking in my relaxation breaks into sports cat and the whole exhaust. The manifold seems to be quite good, which means we might get away doing only the rest. Aquired in the meantime 2.4 engine. Maps are available.

Re: Progress on Stilo performance tuning

Maybe we could arrange so the elder get it first, and then in an age descending order? :) This way I hope to get it soon, but PNL will propably get it first.

Morten.

I will do you a deal Morty straight swap your funky bunch for the induction :p I have recieved a PM of Oldschool[Peter]the induction IS for me but the brackets to hold the twin cone filter has not been worked out so I have offered my car as a donor so that he can sort out any of the issues that need to be sorted you other guys will then have no problems as everything like fixing backets etc will have been sorted just waiting to hear now from the PM I sent him as to what he wishes to do :woot:

Vroom vroom :D was that a bird !! was that a plane !! nope just PNL

Re: Progress on Stilo performance tuning

Bi**h!! Just as a teaser Phil... I seen the hosing:p

So jealous, but I should have mine next week... :D

If the hosing fitted the 2.4 you could have it Nick would be quite happy to let someone who has helped Oldschool in many ways. You have been a real help to him in so many ways since you have been here in the stilo section others have done nothing just sat back and waited for the final product but without the donor cars available the kits would have been hit and miss with regards to routing and bracket location he has the patience of a Saint that's all I can say :) Roll on FRIDAY :slayer:

Cheers Phil!! Just spoke to Pete and he reckons it might fit!

 JUST KIDDIN!!:p

I must admit to have been a bit naive when it came to these things and thought it'd only take 5 mins to knock one up! But when you see the tooling and stuff (hard work!) that goes into these kits you realise just how specialist these really are and shame's me that I wasted £100 on my K&N! (although it does sound sweeeeet!!) But I'm so impatient I'm happy to help Pete however I can to speed this stuff up!! I want BHP and he's the one to get it for me!! :worship:
Hopefully I'm gonna help him out with an Ebay shop so people have got one place to find all the goodies he's working on.. watch this space.

HE HE HE HE!! WOO HA HA!! (dr evil cackle)...

I'm probably gonna look after the electronic side of it for him so it should be just the hands on bit he'll have to worry about.:(

Re: Progress on Stilo performance tuning

Just to report that I am back home from my trip to Brum for the remap and induction kit and a very pleasurable day it was to I could talk cars all day was like a kid in a candy store :D had a good natter to the owner of the tuning place and his young trainie assistant and all the customers [Hi to you both if you are watching]I arrived at 9.90 and Peter arrived at 12.15 in a Panda  said he wanted brakfast that was why he was late ;) so my work started quite late . Anyway Peter set about removing the airbox [bloody nightmare] all I could see was this pair of legs under the car and a few choice words ;) next he measured for length the induction tube and connected the twin cone filter on the end and offered it up to the throttle body and when in the correct position tightened down the clip around the tube to throttle body then came the tricky bit the fabrication of the filter supporting bracket which I must say he did with grate skill and dexterity when it was all checked I took for a quick run and jees what a differance I pulled up to a zebra to let a chinese guy cross and when he was in the middle flipped the throttle ROAR went the induction thought the poor buggar was gonna have a heart attack :D couldnt really give it some so I went back for the first run on the dyno couldnt believe our eyes at the result Peter was dumbfounded at the result from a standard car that ran at a disappointing 99bhp YES [I couldnt believe that to ]with the induction fitted it ran at about 112 bhp and with the remap 119.7 had some problem getting the engine up to temperature for the run but I had no trouble getting it a little warmer on the way home a trip that takes 1hr and 40 mins took me an hour on the way home [I did take it quietly as you told me to Peter ]there was little traffic about ;) Oh and Peter just to let you know that I WILL now be at Gaydon :slayer: for any technical details ask PETER TO EXPLAIN I have got some graffs but dont understand the specifics here is some though off the sheet.

Power 117.9hp at 5675 rpm
Power tyre 79.5 hp
Dispersed power 37.6 hp
Correct power 119.7 hp[din70020]
Torque 115.4 lbd/ft at rpm4925
Tyre dia 604mm
Test gear4o speed
Tye size 215/45/17

Re: Progress on Stilo performance tuning

Chuffed that you are chuffed Phil. Down to you and Schooweenick for a wax treatment then at Gaydon? Just make sure she's clean. I will bring some stepladders so we can do the roof too :D

Re: Progress on Stilo performance tuning

Hi guys,

PNL was there an increase in torque. Would be nice if you could put up figures prior to new filter/re-map. Peter has said before if minimal gains in BHP you can get good gains in Torque instead.

:worship: Petes filters are a work of art though aren't they. No stupid cheap ducting pipe or cable ties (like CDA use), Better filter positioning than the others to (K&N).:worship:

My first sighting of petes work was on mine and shooweee's mates Punto HGT. He to got significant gains in mid-range torque from his.

Cannot wait for mine now........tick.....tick........tick........

Re: Progress on Stilo performance tuning

Ooooohhhhhh Yes sire eeeeeee big gains in torque and it sounds AWESOME frightened the crap out of motorists that had their windows partly down as I roared past them quite impressive power curve increases in every category higher rev limit to koob Peter had the tooling for the 2.4 with him I chucked it about a little just to improve the shape of it ;)

Re: Progress on Stilo performance tuning

 You leave my tooling alone

I cannot believe you let my mate Nick help get you your filter and this is how we are rewarded by you, typical.:D

How did it look by the way.............lol

Not too noisey though is it. I would like to take a bird out in my car occasionally without her thinking we are in a rally car. lol
