Okay so Ive had my Abarth now for nearly 3 years and have been hitting walls :bang: over getting an mp3 player to work with my standard head unit.
I have ConnectNav+ and the 5 disc changer which for the 1st 2 years was all I needed. Now however I want more songs etc...and will not lose the nav or bulit in phone, I tried Fm modulators and they are rubbish even the Dension ones had collosal distortion and poor sound :(. Even tried adding line in wires to the cdc in and out on the blue connector and still no.

So I have a Samsung YP-T9 4gb mp3 player with Bluetooth which allows for wire free sounds to a pair of BT headphones. I found on the interweb a Parrot MK6000 BT handsfree kit which is for phones but is dedicated for streaming from Audio devices with a A2DP stereo profile. So removed the CN+ this morning fitted the Bluetooth kit in about 10mins, all fits in there somehow and went about pairing devices - found and paired ok, but problems when trying to connect.

:cry:was my 1st reaction, but after reading the manual fully  I found out that updates are available online to further expand the range of compatible devices. So Downloaded the software, the updates and with a 60metre extension cord, Me my laptop and a USB bluetooth dongle were ready to go... After the update all my tunes came through the speakers in high quality stereo sound, all controlled by the Parrot dial interface with the kit.

The parrot kit can also allow for handsfree phone also but i left the mics off as i have this as part of the CN+, and for £80 the kit was very reasonably priced and quite easy to fit.

Hopes this helps in the never ending saga that is Stilo vs MP3 connectivity.

MP3 player i got about a year ago from www.amazon.co.uk and the Parrot kit came from www.l8shop.net but is also available from Amazon.:)(y)

nice one in making it work (y) suitable soloution. though your parrot kit is not used for handsfree calls at all? i havent installed one of these yet, ive installed tonnes of the parrot models below and above and theyre reli nice kits. but i may start pushn these a wee bit more :D. ive seen sony came out with a wee small bluetooth module that you can plug into an mp3 player and wirelessly transmit the sound. theyre givin it as part of a pack with some of their head units but im sure you can buy the unit on its own somewhere

fair enough, i didnt know media players were coming with in built bluetooth now bt would make sense i suppose. also, a lot of phones now have the option of streaming music through the internal speaker or through bluetooth which may be a thot if you ever choose to upgrade your phone combining the two in one ;)

burn your mp3 onto cd then the standard cd player on connect nav + plays mp3 fine, get about 160 songs to a disc

Their customer support is pretty dire!

The most frustrating thing is that Parrot obviously got their stuff to work so surely (and I'm guessing wildly here) it's fairly simple to get a Dension kit to work!?

Look like I'm going to have to get a second MP3 player with bluetooth just for the car!

When using the sat nav once u have loaded in the destination you can take the cd out and it will remember all the information therefore you can put cd's in as normal(y)

OK, I'm fairly sorted that I'm getting a Parrot Kit and the BT adaptor for the iPod, one final question tho:

The Parrot kit mutes the stereo when in use, so what happens with the following; direction instructions from the satnav and incoming calls on the built in phone??

The wiring harness has 3 optional wires, only 1 of which needs connecting to mute the radio etc but i never used any of these as didn't know or find out which one i needed

hi guys,
i installed the parrot mk6000 the other day into my cn+ and its easy as pie, only prob is that the sound doesnt come out through the bass box in the boot but i suppose i'll get used to it.

Little confused as to why you'd want to install a parrot

I toyed with the idea but after a little research it wasn't ideal.

Hence going for this option.
