Re: HOW TO CHANGE YOUR DROP LINKS (OR ANTI ROLL BAR LINKS) IN 30MINS

After reading this i gained the confidence to try this myself and save some money on labor costs!

I took the wheel off and found it to be easier than the guide suggested, i didnt have any hex nuts or anything.

Used a 14 spanner on the back to stop the ball joint spinning and used a 17 rather spanner on the front... after some very small very difficult turns i got both bolts off!!

Popped the link bar out.

Trying to get the new ones in wasnt easy! I had to clamp the anti roll bar to the wishbone to pull it down so i could slot them in!

Good sense of self accomplishment... hungry for more tasks!!

This forum is so valuable!!
Thanks wody21 thanked for this post

look considerably more man than the std ones on car now.
didn't seem muchmore expensive at £26.50 for a pair considering the quality and 4 yr warranty, plus plenty of posts of cheap ones failing fast.

Re: HOW TO CHANGE YOUR DROP LINKS (OR ANTI ROLL BAR LINKS) IN 30MINS

all done , as others found top nut off easy bottom one not cut my losses and used dremel and cutting wheel to cut slot through nut then mole grips on the rubber boot held it enough to spin off the nut.
the meyle ones came with new nuts requiring 15mm spanner and also a thinned down 16mm spanner to hold the boot side.
I was supprised how much spring was in the anti roll bar, a big bar levering through the hole in the lower arm was enough.

Re: HOW TO CHANGE YOUR DROP LINKS (OR ANTI ROLL BAR LINKS) IN 30MINS

I just replaced with Meyle HD a couple of days ago too and can confirm that side to side with the oe fiat ones they seem much beefier, also the system for securing should be easier in the future should it ever need doing.

As everyone else said bottom nut was on so hard, my brother who was helping me snapped a spanner, he gave up after that so i got a better quality spanner and the fiat jack and did it up by hand (the jack) until it turned, and it worked! doubt its safe to jack against a spanner though so proceed with caution

Re: HOW TO CHANGE YOUR DROP LINKS (OR ANTI ROLL BAR LINKS) IN 30MINS

Will be changing mine tomorrow.

Earlier in the week heard a clunk, then a rattling noise.

Had a look underneath and found the n/s droplink had completely broken.

The top is still secured, but the bottom, the ball joint had come apart away from the bolt, and was just flopping around....no wonder it felt different going round corners
