:yeahthat:

It will need to be split into different types, eg Tom Tom, Garmin, Navman, etc

pocket gps is indeed a good site but i was thinking more along the lines of offering technical support to members here eg the stuff is available from pocket gps world but people have trouble installing it so maybe we could helpthem as well as developing our own fiat related poi,s

I think for me a satnav, for directions and speed camera locations and applicable speed limits, would be a genuinely useful purchase / Xmas present but struggling with which one to get.

Makro had the Roadcom G400 for 99 + VAT and Sainsburys got the Sony NU50 for 147... mooching round the net both seem to be compromised by their mapping :(

The info on the net is either from disgruntled folk who have bought what they deem a steaming pile of .... or posts by techno geeks going on about what chipsets they got etc. Fancy the Bluespot Lucca at 148 but not sure if it does speed cameras so YES would welcome a satnav & speed camera detector style section on this forum (y)

wot no warning lite first thing to ask is for what main purpose do you require nav?
ie, british use or european use second question is do you require poi points of intrest files and speed camera warnings
question 3 do you need gimicks like hands free calling and a built in mp3 player

as a trucker i have used many diffrent units and am still of the opinion that tomtom is the market leader at the moment if you only looking for the go1 gb great britain mapping tom tom its available for £169 if your budget is smaller there are navman units available from £99 all i will say is for future life and in terms of add ons available and upgrades and ease of use its tom tom every time for me for bargain units have alook on www.hotukdeals.com

good idea custard i wonder if we could say give it free to anyone who buys samiboos fiat forum car stickers so that way genuine forum users get value and thieves get nothing

this sounds like a great idea to me but i agree with custard we dont want people coming just for free sat nav updates. my sat nav (tom tom on pda ) hasnt been able to get a gps fixing for over a week now is it just mine or has anyone else got the same problem, i put it down to the fog:confused:

tom tom are currently in the process of upgrading mapping why dont you check what version you are currently running and then visit the tomtom.comsite to see if a new version is available i know this upgrade has caused probs with units functioning before so this could be the case

Hi ROS, I'm looking for good accurate UK & European mapping, speed camera locations and unit with TMC, which I believe links to your Radio RDS to navigate you round traffic jams... found out me dad is looking too and seems to think that the now discontinued & discounted Mio 205 is the way to go

hoddamn people i was wondering if people could tell me y they have or even want maps of where cameras are.... surely if you cant see those yellow boxes u shouldnt be on the road let alone tryin to use sat nav aswell:confused: dont get me wrong i like sat nav i got a very "basic" version on my 3230 i run navicore and i tell you what its a perfect job it asks me where i want to go so i tell it and guess what.... it directs me there (y) thats all i could ever ask for. ive ridden scotland and wales with it on my bike and i never came across any trouble with it or the law... infact i remeber in both wales and scotland i flew past numerous old bill cars and vans and offices with the throttle firmly pinned guess what i didnt get pulled!!! oh yeah and i never got flashed once by a "money maker" strange that... altho i think some local counsils have me doin about 120 weilding a middle fringer or 2 thru their front facing units...:slayer:

POI's of dealers and other fiat related stuff sounds like a Very good plan!!!! anyone deal with navicore or for that mater even know how to use POI's on navicore units cos lets face it i dont
