What we need is a sat nav forum for example poi (points of intrest files) we can download on to our sat navs eg fiat dealers, speed cameras and low bridges for those of us who tow tin tents (caravans) i am currently working on a dealer poi for tom tom sat nav units and hope to have it ready soon in the meantime if any member wants help with sat nav issues really experienced on tom tom systems i have a small knowledge of others please pm me and i will try to help

It would be covered by "driving without due care and attention" I reckon. The same as phone usage used to be, but they introduced a specific offence to make it easier to hand out the points, and also raise awareness of how naughty it is.

Reason I ask is because some t*at was all over the place going around the big roundabout near strathclyde park,I realised he was messing about with sat-nav thing on dash at the time! I nearly hit him but that could of been because I couldn't really see where I was going as I had my map folded out infront of me:D

Fiddling with GPS whilst driving is a crime, but not publicised enough like mobile phone use is. If I have to fiddle with mine (no joke intended) I either ask a passenger, or failing that, find somewhere to stop- it's ridiculous to try to work it whilst driving. I'm a good boy. :)
PS: Thread hijack! T14086, you're near Strathy? Where abouts? That roundabout is a fecking nightmare, most of the folk on it don't know what lane they should be in, and I can't blame them unless they use it all the time!

In a secret underground bunker where no one can find him, dishing out some seriously good advice! Except that sat navs aint good ;) Although not much use in Scotland, as there's no wher i go that requires one evn up to Inverness etc, as there's so few roads to choose from or to get diverted on to in case of pileup etc that i dont already know about! Or have speed cameras etc i dont know about! :D 'touches wood'

And the good old Glasgow, Edinburgh and Ayr A to Z's allways got me to peeps addresses and places i've wanted to go.

However very usefull devises if going where you dont know or finding streets etc. As well as traffic and camera alerts! I'm looking at getting one for my adventures, although as not going to powerfiat etc next week i dont need it this week.

Who needs maps/sat-nav anyway, isn't that what women are for :D

(*runs & hides before backlash starts*)

Nah that'd be a faulty sat nav, you know they always send you the wrong, sorry scenic way! (y)

agreed... unfortunatly the one that i stored in my boot died lasy week...

looking for replacement...

Did you forget to cut a small hole in the box? (n)

Anyhow we are off topic!

Back on topic how about a poll for a Sat Nav section? Either as part of the leasure lonunge or prefferably as its more car related in with the Miscellaneous section along with ICE, cleaning etc. Am sure you could get some decent advertisers for there as well, or targeted google ads to generate some revenue etc. If i was popular i'm sure we could get some group buys etc going, or discounts with sites etc. As we have the members approaching 25K now is it?

judging by the response since i started this thread i think this section would justify its own spot on the forum. As for advertising it would have to be looked at closely i would think as no manufacturer is gonna want to advertise where we are telling the truth about they,re products good or bad. As for discounts i don,t see why we could not approach some manufacturers i know that when ben from the www.pipelinecard.org.uk site approached garmin they were happy to offer discounts to members of that site .on the subject of discounts any way see my previous posts as the big stores sometimes offer promo discount codes for use on they,re websites where i have obtained these i have posted them here and will continue to do so as long as it benefits other forum members anyway thanks to all who supported this thread hopefully we might now get our own sat nav section

Has anyone looked at the RAC 110 Sat Nav? Uses Route 66 software. Looks ok. Anyone got an opinion? Only downside is it exclusive to Woolworth. RAC members can get £20 of the retail price of £199.00.

Andy.

no need for a vote it's been cleared with Ben, we are just awaiting download software :)

we've already got goodle ad's that change depending on what is on the page.

i wouldn't imagen group buys or discounts are going to happen, this would require direct contact with the manurfacture... and tbh... even if we got 20 people to buy a new sat nav... thats nothing for them, i mean our store sells around 9 a day...

ok so how about sub sections...

i'm thinking

I think this covers about everything we need, and it would mean the download software would only have to be implimented in 4 or 5 sections.

feel free to add/take away/change this. (y)

Problems section would include common problems / solutions...
downloads we have mentioned above.
news would cover New product/update announcements/ recalls and all other related news.

Legality wise... are we allowed to link to torrents?

Owen :)

just researched this:

http://www.woolworths.co.uk/ww_p2/product/index.jhtml?pid=50712275

woolworths... selling it with £25 off... so no need to be a member... but to be honest, i'd go out and buy a tomtom One Gb... and spend £20 more.. as mentioned, i dont rate the software particually
