project section

project section

the thing is, most peoples cars are ongoing projects, where do you draw the line between a project and not a project? and as that as the case kinda defeats the object of members motors if we have a seperate project section

Id draw the line with projects being rebuilds, or big body mods etc, or as in when someone says they've finished their car, then they could post it in Members motors after having a thread on it in the project area. Id say that it would be the most viewed section on the forum if there were a projects section

ok, so say joe bloggs has a sei he's turning into a show car (because lets face it most ppl start off with a HUGE project in mind but 6 months in they have a set of alloys), but he isnt going at same speed as dunc, would it be members motors or projects?

Id have it down as a project personally, hes plannign what hes going to do, doing some of it and showing pictures/ giving details of what hes got, timeline would have to be decided on and from there the poster would have to make the decision as to just put some pics up every now and again in MM or in Projects section, id define joe bloggs project thread as a thread which has regular updates myself, and put it down to the poster's discretion

the description for members motors is "a place to show off your car" (or something like that)

so people who have just bought a car/ added something can take photo's and get C&C's...

the projects section would be more so people can see how the car is coming on... i.e if "joe bloggs" just bought a set of alloys and wanted to show them off, this would go in the members motors section...

but on the other hand if he had designed and built a boot install or anyother kind of modification that took more than bolting on this would go in the projects section so people can see how it's going on.. add updates and seek advice. :)

Sounds like a good plan, if you could make it so that members can only start 1 thread per car in the 'projects forum' or whatever it ends up being called then you would always just add to that like col7104 has in MM. Thus anything you have done you can update it in projects as you go, when you finish whatever job your doing you'd post in MM the result.
That in turn would mean eventually the MM would turn into a whole load of finished pics for people to check out and reply to and your cars progress and build up pics would be available in your project thread and you could go check them out if your interested in a particular 'project'. This would clean out the ones you get that are hello i drive a ...... here it is type threads which really annoy me, not trying to be off about it but we all know what standard cars look like, i'm too interested that joe bloggs has a standard punto.. Its nice for him but its nothing i haven't seen before if you get me. If you get a new car, then you can have a new project thread to start.
