ok with the other thread going off the rails a a bit , i thought WE should all cast a vote to see how we all feel about having a small section for members to discuss about other cars (they may have or if a friend or member of thier faimly wants soem advice about thier car)

i know this is a fiat forum, but i thhink it is unfair for memebrs who have been loyall to this forum for years, to sell thier car and not been able to find another sutible forum to go onto and discuss problems about their (NEW) car

thanks

rich

i think its quite a good idea to add a small section for other cars on here, or a general car chat it wont hurt anyone who doesnt want to use it

The only way we will ever know if it will work for this forum is to give it a try. If it causes problems I'll be the first person to hold my hands up and say I was wrong. There's no reason it can't be deleted in an instant if it has the wrong effect on this place. Nobody who cares about this forum would complain if it was deleted due to abuse or whatever.

I really should shut up now before I bore the crap out of everyone even more :D

well i do agree with you that is the point i was traying to make and if it doesnet work then like ya say it can be deleted

thanks

rich

p.s. hows the new car by the way??

ive voted yes, but not for a full section just as it is a fiat forum afterall. why not just put an 'non fiat motors' under the members motors section and if it doesnt work then delete it. then we will have a difinitive answer ;)

I think just one section for other motors won't harm. Not a massive section, just one, and with no sub-sections, just a general section where people can start threads regarding problems they may have with their cars or if they just want to talk about them. I think if they want to show their motors off, they can already do so in the members motors section. I've seen several non-Fiat's in there before and it hasn't bothered me. Afterall, this Forum isn't just for Fiat owners, it's for Fiat fanatics too.

(y) That just about sums this thread up FOR the section.

guess you voted FOR then? :p

to be honest i dont really see the point.....
as u said, people are more then welcome to post their motors in the "members motors section" as that is a section for all members cars...... y do people think they need a special section for non fiat cars? this forum is aimed at, and based around fiats, and talk about fiats....

it may sound a bit harsh, but this isnt a "general car" forum, or a "fiat + the cars that people who used to own a fiat now own forum" as it says in the title its for talk on all things fiat. now dont get me wrong, i have no problem with people who no longer own a fiat staying members(i would do the same if i bought another brand of car) but i dont think its our place to cater for all those people, i think it should stay the same, there is already a General NON-FIAT chit-chat on anything & everything... its called the leisure lounge :D :p

True, true, but say, for example, I had a friend with a Ford Focus who had a problem and asked if I knew anyone who could help, then I could ask all the technical boffins that use this forum :) I know I already could in the Lesure Lounge but seeing that that's aimed more at general chit chat then it's likely to go un-noticed. Afterall, I would say that a large majority of Fiat Forum members are petrol heads (me included), and not just with Fiat's (although Fiat's are better than most other cars ;) :D ). So talking about and helping resolve issues with other cars may be of interest to some people.
