Post Editing

We are still talking about moved posts? When a post is moved, the forum automatically creates an expiring redirect - at least, it should.

Post edits - are all saved, you can revert between versions at any time.

It's possible though, that say for example a PM was sent for every edit, that due to the amount of them - and then people replying to these PMs - it could create too high a workload.

I'll think about it.

Not a PM though, just a notification added into the same system as the quote/thanks/like system would work. :)

Unfortunately it's just as simple as adding a counter.

The notification counter would have to point somewhere, so a new page listing all the actions. But then the reason... how would it show that?

Deleted threads / posts also are hidden - so if a post is removed, there is no way to show this.

I'll be honest - I think on a smaller forum, it might be a nice feature - but the size of this one just makes in unfeasible. In our 10 years, I can't recall anyone else ever complaining about it.

The reason would be under the post.

Good point about the deleted bits though, hadn't considered that.

Maybe have a standardised pm then that mods can send when they've edited something against the rules so it doesn't come across as it's full of attitude?

It has, that's the past, please don't drag it back up and get this thread locked too...

It could work the same way the the thanks/like/quote number at the top though couldn't it?

are we just going to have threads on this over and over again?
perhaps take your own advice

I'm not dragging it back up am I, this is a civilised thread discussing a 'site idea'.

Quick example: I reported a classified, ChrisUK PM'd him mentioning trader stuff and he said he might take it up. :) So that PM must've been nicely worded and not harsh.

Dom

yes I can see what you are infering
You have been given quite a bite of rope
If you think I will continue to have thinly veiled snipes from you, then you are mistaken
you are welcome to continue for a third time with the same 'issue'.
however I wont have it be at my expense.

I'm not sniping at you.

I'm just saying that a more uniform approach might be better.

Dom

I have given you your warning
I won't be tolerating your snipes
if you have a site idea, fine
if however its an extentsion of your whine that has now been ongoing for 7 months
Then I suggest you take your own advice as I posted earlier

I'm not sniping at you, what happened happened, gone, finished, done, ended.
It isn't an extension of my 'whine'.

It is an honest side idea that I think could work.
