I'm from C2 club before I saw the light and got myself a fiat.

On there, we have a member services. Basically memebers who have experience fitting various parts (coilovers, welders, engine conversions, detailing etc etc) and they offer their services.

Being on the cinquecento section of this site and buying a fair few parts from other memebers on here - I've seen a range of things people can offer!

Just an idea

Open to abuse for people using it for business advertising IMO. Also need to vet them etc.

:yeahthat:

Opening up the forum to allsorts of 'legal' issues.

We have a traders section so people are 'serious' about their service can make some money doing it for a small fee for advertising (y)

Shadeyman is the prime example of this doing work on stilo suspension bushes I believe.

If it were "for a pizza and a beer" or "pay the fuel" how does that stand in reference to the legal issues?
I think that if there's folks who are willing to HELP OUT other local members then it'll only benefit the club by bringing us together more.

Just my thoughts...

Legally would still need public liability insurance etc. People already offer to help through the normal section forums, so I can't see the need for another section myself.

Ultimately anyone helping someone else work on their car could leave themselves wide open should things turn sour say a member offers his service to weld a members car up... The car catches fire and burns out.... Now a garage has insurance to cover such things, But a member of the public wont...... I don't mind helping mates out but they can tighten their own bolts up ;-)

I think it's a good idea but it has it's flaws.

Some moderators can't tell the difference between replying to someone asking to come round for a chat/drink and replying to someone wanting a service. (n)

ah well, just a thought. Worked well on the c2 forum but then again. It's not open to general public - have to buy a membership to have access to that area of the forum.

Plus that forum is a lot smaller than this site for sure!
