as there are now forums for punto (1993-2006) the grande punto and punto Evo fiat have gone on to cause potential future confusion by going back to just 'punto' with the latest model

would it be helpful to move all the punto named forums together in the listing as at the moment grande is away from the others, and maybe a new forum for the new punto model or club together the grande evo and new version as they are all similar cars?

any other thoughts ?

Stick with Mk1&2 together (change the date from 1993-present). The grande and the evo together. And if the new punto is based on the technology as the grande/evo put it in there as well if not then a new section for the "New punto". This keeps the technology relevant for each section.

I was just about to mention that there is no category in the blogs for the Evo yet there is for the Grande.

Perhaps they could be subforums of the Punto one?

The Mk2b is still made in certain markets and called the Punto Classic so 1993-Present is still correct.

the Mk1 is a car in its own right
the mk2 and mk2b are obviously essentially the same car dave as pointed out above the mk2b is still sold in some countries as the "Punto Classic"

the Grande Evo and the 'new' punto are essentially the same car i think the only difference between the new punto and the Evo are some minor cosmetic changes (same as mk2 and mk2b)

the biggest confusion is the Punto mk2b still being sold as the classic means it keeps its "to present" status
maybe it would be worth separating the original mk1 from the mk2 and 2b as they are very different cars, having a forum for mk2 and mk2b then clubbing together the grande evo and new version into one forum, as it stands the evo and grande guys miss out on any help they could receive from one another if they don't cross over to each others forums. so personally i would propose 3 forums

1. Mk1 puntos
2. Mk2 and mk2b puntos and 'punto classic'
3. punto grande, evo and 2012 punto.

does this sound sensible ?

its not really a point of argument though i'm not calling it the punto classic, it Is the 'Punto Classic' so anyone who owns a punto classic is not going to know what a punto mk1 or mk2 means and to be honest the MK1 or mk2 labels where never official in the eyes of fiat where as punto classic is.

Fiat Punto Classic Vrsac - Autocentar Atanackov salon novih automobila Vršac - HD 1080p - YouTube

but if you have a classic section everyone in the uk is going to think its for the mk1

If the new Punto is just an Evo - then we can make a forum and just alias it to a current one.

we wont know until they start going wrong, when the mk2b came out everyone thought it was only the looks that changed, wasn't till later that we found out lots of the electrical system was different

Just to add while we're talking about section naming..

In the guides:
Bravo Guides - can we change the pic to a Bravo?
Grande Punto Guides - Can we change the pic to a GP? (Or change the name to Grande Punto/Evo Guides too?)

So mk1 and mk2/mk2b and classic together in one forum as they are at the moment plus (if classic and mk1 are together in the same forum it really doesn't matter if it confuses people)

Combine punto grande evo and the new 2012 punto into another forum mechanically these cars are very similar with the only real difference being as new engine options were introduce.

In the days of canbus, electronically all these cars since about 1999 are the same with the odd little year specific quirks

The new 2012 punto has an update to the Tomtom blue and me interface, some external styling changes and some new seat fabrics it really is just a slightly updated evo, fiat just wanted to get back to just 'punto' as a name funnily enough because it was getting confusing

could the 3 be all labeled as punto e.g.
Punto Classic mk1 mk2
Punto Evo
Punto Grande

this would move them all together in the listing an minimise people keep posting in the wrong section
