There are seperate sections on the site to talk about ICE, Bodywork, Satellite Navigation, Security etc. but there's no specific section for those that like to tune/modify their cars to swop idea's, info and show off their creations. I know many on here(myself included) consider Blue Neons and dustbin sized exhaust pipes a waste of time but many others like these things so how about we give them an area to play in, might visit it myself if some serious tuners use the area(remaps, turbo upgrades etc.). Many modifications are universal and not model specific so I think a Tuning & Modifying section would be benificial to like minded members.

Do you think the site should have a Tuning & Modifying section.

1. Yes
2. No
3. Don't Care.

The forum already has too many sections and too much duplication. Plus the prefix system works really well.

I look at a lot of car forums, the ones that are organised by model are far easier to view than the ones that are over organised with a section for everything plus the kitchen sink.

Its fails to work, need I say more?

Thinking about this, I think you do need to say more.
How does it not work as it is?

I've found the tuning prefix to work very well. The only exception being people not choosing it for another prefix when maybe tuning would be the better option. But these people would not leave the model section find the tuning section then select the correct prefix there.

If someone can't get something simple right the best option isn't to make it more complicated for them is it?

Lets not forget we had a tuning section in the past. Guess what?

People couldn't use it properly. ;)

Members will fail to use things properly, were human, its what we do.

The tuning prefix may well work if it use correctly but many dont use it correctly.

Put info into an easy to find section and label it appropriately, makes things much easier for everyone, members trying to find info and MODs know where to transfer it to when nubies post in the wrong place.

Edit.
I'm sure a Tuning and Modifying section would see a lot of new members. New member looking for tuning and modifying info find it difficult to find and are not greeted to well in some model specific sections.

Like a tuning prefix in the model section?
I'm not anti change here, it just sounds like change for changes sake.

Its strange you should say that as it seems to be mainly MODs that are against having a seperate section.

I know someone has to moderate the new section and as most MODs don't seem to be intrested in Tuning & Modifying at all I can see why, but many others are and the info is hard to find here. With or without a prefix if ALL tuning & modifying info was in ONE section it would be easier to find and better for everyone. Only the Tuning & Modifying moderater would have the job of re-asigning the correct prefix's to the threads instead of all MOD's looking for somewhere to label or dump tuning info.

If we had one specific "Tuning/Customisation" section for all the Fiat models, we'd need to find a moderator for it who had some knowledge of tuning on all those models.

It's difficult enough finding moderators for the individual sections, a multi model moderator would probably be immposible to find.

Why would the moderator need to have knowledge of all the models?

Surely someone who is unbiased and knows how to moderate a forum is more important, someone like yourself? If you have the time and are willing you deffinately get my vote.

Maybe because Mods have been here and been active longer than most. So know the issues members have when things are complicated for them.
It's mods that see the reports and know what people are doing wrong, not just guessing what they think people are doing. ;)

The info isn't hard to find, which is the whole issue I have with the idea of ANOTHER new section. The info is only difficult to find if you have trouble tying your shoelaces or counting backwards from 10.

I've explained in earlier posts why it's not an easier way to do things, if you can explain why it is easier or how it's difficult to find things then please do so. Or there is no chance of a new section since it's been tried before and didn't work. Admittedly without the 20 odd prefixs the model yur proposing would have.

why would they need knowlege of tuning on all those models, we have section mods with the only knowlege of the car they moderate is what they have read on the forum to start with, moderating is more making sure the rules are kept to and putting stuff in the right places, like FAQs and guides.
admin dont even know an engine needs fuel and he is the boss of all the mods:p

A section for Tuning & Modifying, its cant get more simple. Obviously the previous attemp at a Tuning & Modifying section wasn't good enough. What was it called, "tech talk"? I bet even its name was miss leading to most so what did you expect?

Finding info on tuning/modifying is difficult especially for newbies.

If its in one place and moderated properly I'm sure it will recieve more hits than anyother part of the site.

I would prefer having to search for hours through my own car section than a separate section!

At least in the Classic Panda section (I don't know about others) but you get to know who knows their stuff and who doesn't (like me :ROFLMAO:). Where as if it was one section you would get every Tom, Dick and Harry putting there pennies worth in and the information might not be 100% correct.

For instance I don't want some spotty faced 17 year old Punto owner (no offence is meant to any Punto owner by that comment) telling me how to do an engine conversion on my Panda just because the think they know a Punto engine. I would rather ask in the Classic Panda section at least then I am going to get right information. At least in there I know the people know the car.

The prefix's work well if they are used right maybe instead of debating in here we should all be welcoming newbie's in Newbie Central and educating them rather than moaning that no one knows how to use the forum right!
