Image search function.

Not sure how difficult it would be to create. But, as the saying goes, "a picture says a thousand words".

Many problems users have require the right photo/image to help explain things. So if users were able to search through the images the site holds easily problems could be solved much easier and reduce the amount of images uploaded.

Maybe even extend the search to PDF, ZIP files etc.?

Yes it does.
But adding the function to the main site search so no matter what your searching, threads, images, pdf etc. its all in one place. Not sure how difficult it would be to add other file types to it, but I'm sure it would be usefull.

Problem is most images do not have a descriptive file name or description.

There already is a search, if you type Bravo most images are mine because i am one of the few that names them.

This was my idea for the gallery

I have another idea.
Where an image is shown as locked with a padlock. Why not make that padlock a link to the threads the image is used in. Might not be easy I don’t know but would be nice to find the thread it is in.

Current version of vB doesn't allow different data types to be searched in one go, hence forums, blogs and projects can't be linked.

vB4 can do this - but it's awful ....

Will see if situations improve over the coming few months - as it would be nice to bring everything together for sure

Perhaps a way of politely insisting(lol) users descriptively name their uploaded files to give "search" a chance of finding stuff?
