suggested thread / read these first

I cannot for the life of me remember where I have seen it, but i'll do my best to describe it...

when starting a new thread, after completing the title the forum would automatically search for similar threads in that sub forum - and ask the poster to check them before creating a new topic.

I think it would help a lot with very similar questions being posted

Perhaps only enable it for users with say less than 50 posts though?

yeah, for sure. Found the forum that does it, and it's the same software running it as this one - so it must be avaible as an add-on

I've added the mod you meant and changed it a bit so it only shows up in the model sections.

Unfortunately though, it searches for relevant threads in all forums, and there doesn't seem to be a hook point to change the behaviour.

I have an idea though how to get round this, so I'll try it when I wake up

All done, now searches only for threads in relevant forum (and as before, only in the car and misc sections)

Oh, the conditional is in there btw to not show if you have over X posts, but I'll leave it on for everyone now so we can test it a bit. If all is well, then I'll set it to 50 posts, as suggested above. (oh, unless you want it left on of course!)

Is there any way to show more recent threads? I did a test and only came up with threads older than me

It goes by closest match to title, not looking at age....

But then age shouldn't matter - as the problem will still be the same

(All it's doing is mirroring the links you see at the bottom of each thread, but limiting results to that forum only)
