FF Iphone app

Might be easier to have the forum detect the user agent of phones and default to the print version of the site, as it strips out most of the graphics, etc.

[end of useful part of post here]

I been using it for about an hour now and it's pretty amazing :)

Easy to use as well for all the apple fanboys out there who paid a fortune for a phone thats bettered by android running HTC's :p
i see

I've used an iPhone - it's a nice looking piece of kit with a nice UI, but my crap old LG Renior (~January 2009) had flash (both web and one for the camera), video recording, bluetooth stereo headset (A2DP) and file transfer (FTP/OPP) support (admittedly at slower speeds), 3G, multitasking and a microSD HC slot out of the box. If LG, Nokia, Samsung etc. tried to release a phone that expensive without these features it wouldn't have sold.

Other than opera or web browser for BB, use an app called "Bolt". I have the forum on fullscreen mode and the most posts per page allowed and the pages still load at normal desktop PC speed and display exactly the same. That includes signatures, images and videos. Top notch app, better than Opera by far (y)

Apple are scum

If Microsoft released a phone that had cut down bluetooth, wouldn't allow adobe to make a proper flash player, didn't allow 3rd party gps receivers, dictated what companys can offer on the contracts, only support mp4 videos, and dictated a bunch of terms and conditions on the software development kit they'd be hell to pay.

Have to disagree, used so many windows mobile phones its unreal, now have a blackberry and had many iPhone's, currently have no idea where my blackberry is :/

Cant remember when I last needed to send a photo/tune/file via BT, i use it for hands free and it does that rather well :)

Flash should just go and die. Its extremely poorly written even with GPU offloading (thats on my Mac, and my windows boxes - running 10.1), I believe Apple are right to not include this one... sooner it disappears, the faster the internet becomes.
FYI - Win Mobile 7 wont include Flash at launch.

Yeah, the SDK is full of restrictions, but, I can see what they are trying to do. Yeah, flash CS5 *could* convert to IPA, but would it do it properly? without crashing the programs and giving the customer a bad experience?

3rd party GPS receivers are allowed, take a look at the tomtom car kit for example.

Also, if its such a bad business model... why is it doing so well? Why is pretty much all other mobile companies trying to head in the same direction?... Wanna see a poor mobile OS? Have a look at Windows Mobile 7 - iPhone OS4 Beta 1 has some serious issues, but ill'd rather run that WM6-7

And Android? meh, I'll pass on a phone that is super slow, and very crashy (T-Mobile HTC Hero for example)

Not the point theres no technical reason to do this only greed

I'm not a big fan of flash but windows plays flash fine - This just says something about the mac.

£100!!! iphone only receiver is hardly 3rd party when apple probably dictated everything - Why isn't there bluetooth or even wired support - true 3rd party making existing gps devices compatible?

Simple iTunes also having a locked os means people can make sh*tty little apps and make some money for stuff that people would of made for free on a open system.

Also this is my point - everything done is for £££ for Apple, but Microsoft gets broken up by the courts because they had too good of a buisness model and dominated the market - and they didn't lock down features to get where they are.

And Android? meh, I'll pass on a phone that is super slow, and very crashy (T-Mobile HTC Hero for example)

Only because the hardware that runs a microsoft os is cr*p doesn't mean the OS is worse than apples only that the hardware isn't good.

Also why hasn't the iphone got a micro sd slot or similar? because they want to rip u off.

And I'm not a big fan of Microsoft - can't stand there change of GUI in vista / win7 etc

My Orange HTC Hero has been faultless and boy does it get some hammer with me being an IT Tech :p. And just as fast if not faster than my colleagues Iphone 3GS.

As does my blackberry curve 8900, my older one couldn't multitask without slight freezes, but with the new tech they are far superior to iphones.

Funnier still is that the media player sounds better on my blackberry than an iphone (based on the worlds most famous gloryfied mp3 player) even when the same headphones are used.

My opinions on Andriod are solely based on the T-Mobile HTC Hero (or what ever they call it) and it is poo!

My iPhone 3GS have done everything i have thrown at it, integrates into many things very well, Has a Citirx client, RDP client, VOIP, SSH, FTP etc, all helps me with my job as an infrastructure engineer, for a hosted service provider. As you can imagine, it gets extremely abused.... Could argue that its a pain in the ass being able to work from anywhere with a signal. And it integrates into my Abarth Grande Punto 100%.

HTC Hero is now getting the 2.1 update (already out of date?) when.. June, thats when, and that IF the operators bundle all there rubbish into it and allow you to download it :p
