I think it would make more sense to have it grouped by location somehow.

I dont even go into that part of the forum because I'd have to look through so many posts to try and find a spotting in Scotland!

Without a load of subforums, you can only group by one criteria.

Model is easy enough as it can just use the normal prefixes...

Only down side is I like to see who's been spotted in my area in general, not just what Punto or Stilo drivers have been spotted.

Think it's best as it is personally.

maybe some sub sections like countys or north, east, south, west etc...

yeah, it would be best to have by model, then by location. personally i think model is more important, because yeah maybe it would make it easier if you lived in scotland, but say you live in the south east somwhere, theres still guna be loads of post of every model which would still be a pain to sift through. if its by model then at least you could easily scan the titles to look out for your car's description. but then i guess there would be loads of silver puntos or whatever, but then again why would you even be searching if your car doesn't even stand out, who cares if any one has spotted another standard car that blends into the crowd.

The trouble is everybody has their own preferences and unless the normal "thread" method of was replaced by a template method of inputting data (that could be "sorted or filtered") then I can't see any better way of viewing info than to hope that the poster has included the most relevant data in the Title.

TBH with the number of hits it gets at the mo, it's not to hard to check it every few days and scan through. There are hardly 100's of new threads weekly like other sections like LL for example.

Possibly the best way to do this would be to integrate it into the calendar system.

You enter a sighting as an "event" - put in the location it was at like you do with a normal event and then choose the model from a drop down list.

"Was It You" then becomes an interactive map with little pins where each sighting was (each linking to a discussion thread).

I'm not even sure if much work would involved, as the coding has already been done for the Events map.....

In that section, I usually use the "search this forum" feature and just type in the town or city where I spotted someone and then it shows me a list of topics containing that word.

Remember, it may be easier to narrow it down by location, but I'm sure there are several Panda's, Cinq's, Puntos, GPs, Bravos and Multipla's in every town, so it's still not really narrowing it down!

Just scroll down the forum view within "Spotted/Was it You?" and press CTRL+F and enter in any familiar keywords like "Broom yellow Punto" or "Green Stilo" or something to the likes. That often works.

It's fine as it is. Sure I would agree if it got like 10 threads made in it per day and it's all messy but it's not all that popular
