A suggestion to help fund this here forum :)

Might it be an idea to add an extra option to the 'Donations' page - namely a recurring subscription ?

With that some of us could send a small amount on a regular basis to help with covering costs.

You would then know that you have a certain amount of funds incoming every month.

Like MEP I'd be up for it, it would a 'set and forget' type of payment like a direct debit so no remembering it each month

You misunderstand me, the suggestion for subscriptions is to add the automatic monthly payment (I hope).

In NO way was I suggesting charging for the forum.

Ok. Now I understand what you mean. My main reason for enquiring was that, once if I accidetntly missed a month, I wouldn't want it to seem I don't want to help the site anymore if you get me?
I just got confused up with the initial idea thats all.
As with my old forum "ps3forums.com" to become a subscriber you had to pay £18 yearly and once that year is up your privlages were gone (15k skill points, large sig size, large subscriber icon) etc.
And that's what I thought would happen with the monthly payments but now I see it wouldn't.

bear in mind this is suggested by a member not the site owners
its been a core belief by Ben that the site is open to all,hence donated members get access to a few fringe benifits and non donated members lose nothing of the main forum

Good ideas, donations are going to be the main bulk of it, perhaps also some Fiat Forum merchandise could be made, not just stickers. Perhaps keyrings, as they are cheap to manufacture?

Oh rest assured my suggestion has no element of that in it, it's up to you if you take part or not, you get no extra benefits from it, but you do gain the warm fluffy "I've contributed" feeling on a regular basis

I've raised monies for another forum by thinking 'off the wall' and can throw another few fun ideas into the pot.

1) have a week of IOTW (Idiot of the week) where the poor individual either has to wear the badge of shame or cough up a 'fine' to help the forum

2) have a few items to auction, where all funds go to the forum (the 'seller' donates the item and postage to the forum, the buyer pays the forum)

if i had to pay monthly id might as well join club cento lol but i dont agree with the way they work. at the end of the day this forum would be nothing without us (obviously)
I think the only way it will work is to rely on donations and adds as it does now.

If you had read my posts you will see that you do NOT have pay monthly, ALL I have done is offer another option for a donation

As previously pointed out I am nothing to do with the running of this site, and therefore have NO say on how the site is funded.

I used the word 'subscription' as that is what Paypal calls it's mechanism for collecting regular payments.

So to get this perfectly clear my suggestion is an extra option on the donations page to sign up to regular payments as opposed to a one off payment - is that clear enough ?

We have a load of clothing in the shop.

Plus keyrings as well, although these tend to be given out at shows.
