TBH I was thinking the same

I don't think you'd be able to put a total ban on hotlinking images - what about the images required for the external ads?

I know lol, I have not seen any externally hosted images on here, so wondered what he was on about. :-S

plus ive seen others closed and people constantly moaned out about using external images.

As far as i know adds are totally sperate from the forum and its posts so blocking external images on the forum alone would be pretty simple.

i post on many forums, and post many images on here. If i'm uploading 20 pictures they'll go on my server (via FTP), and i'll link to them. Give me FTP access to my gallery space, and i'll happy stop using external images on the forum - but till then, nada

When you say external do you mean things like photobucket or flickr?

I use photobucket as post alot of photography images on other forums(my other hobby) and know this seems to be a prefered image hosting method so that the site thats being used doesnt get raped on its bandwith etc.

The only real time I've seen people move or delete images is when they have got the hump with the site concerned and been banned for what ever reason.

Now that would be good, for some reason I can't get the proper uploader to work so have to upload images one-by-one which takes forever, FTP access would be a godsend

I have to shrink all my pics to 800*600 before the uploader works, full 8mp size = no chance

the biggest problem is threads like members motors etc. If its nonsense thread then its not so much of a problem.

It has happened a few times where people have posted pictures and they disapear becuase they have deleted it from their hosting file. Its really annoying.

Personally I dont mind the external hosting in LL and spam forums as I am sure ben would prefer the gallery space to be used up for more "quality" pictures rather than people spam festing with random pictures from google images.

Image Resizer, adds to context menu - right click any jpg or any number of jpgs and select 'Resize'

If on Vista, I use Photoshop to resize them all in batch (File > Scripts > Image Processors)
