Lancia & Alfa Romeo sections

Lancia & Alfa Romeo sections

FiatForum.com not LanciaForums.com or AlfaRomeoForums.com!!! :D
It would kind of defeat the object having Lancia cars and Alfa car sections when this place is about modding and maintenance for Fiats :)

yeah can't have this it'd raise the tone of the forum(n):p

Wouldn't it just? I mean... look at their into page! ;)

I personally agree with having these two section's would be a good idea but if the boss wants too keep it purely Fiat then so be it.
I dont mind looking after the 2 sections if they were to materialise.

Make that 5 sections. If you include Lancia and AR, then you'd have to include FIAT's other vehicle subsiduaries; Maserati, Ferrari and Iveco. Then what about including FIAT's past collaborations?

With the possible exception of Iveco (because I'm not sure if there is an Iveco only forum) the other marques are well supported elsewhere on the internet.

I don't think it's a worthwhile or workable idea. They wouldn't get the traffic either. This is why there is a non-FIAT section; we probably get as much traffic about Lancia or AR cars than any other manufacturer, i.e. not a lot. Not enough to warrant a separate section.

There's more than enough forum sections as it is IMO.

And what about their component companies:

Magnetti Marelli & subcompanies inc Weber, Solex, Jaeger, Veglia Borletti
Teksid
Comau
Itedi
La Stampa

and hellcat, their tractors come under CNH Global

EDIT:

and what about their planes and bikes?

IMO Lancia and Alfa are the more popular of all that are listed and i have spoken to many people people with said cars who would like to come and show them off to people who would appreciate them. Other than owners of same make of model.
A lot of people that i speak too with Lancias are very surprised that i even know what a Delta Integrale is and would be tempted by FF but a lack of specific forum probably holds them back.
I personally love Lancia/Alfa and would like to hob knob with owners on this forum. If it doesnt attract many people then it wont be much work to keep organised.

By that token then we should have a forum for every major manufacturer as I know of people with Fords, VXs, VAGs etc that wouldn't mind showing their cars off to people who'll appreciate them but don't necessarily own them...

This is why we have a non-FIAT section. We don't have the non-FIAT section bursting at the seams to contain all the traffic. Splitting up the non-FIAT section to have separate Lancia and AR sections is neither necessary or useful IMO.

but then if you have lancia/alfa section the whole forum will get an increase in knowledge and usefullness as many Lancias/alfas/fiats share key components.

for example the engine in my car comes from a lancia, the chasis is the same as used with alfa 155's which are often race prepped.

If you opened it up fully and encouraged lancia/alfa owners onto this website the whole site would benefit due to the shared nature of fiats cars. there's loads of things shared, platforms eg tipo, panda, GP etc. engines, then there's the possible sources of tuning parts.

More knowledge is never a bad thing!

The chances are those with that knowledge would already be on the likes of Alfa Owner etc. They may not be necessarily willing to repeat everything they've already said at least once, not when it's easily accessible, just on a different site.

From experience of my work in the ICE forum, it would have never been as good as the likes of a dedicated ICE forum such as Talk Audio no matter how hard you try. The number of active members with the level of knowledge needed just wouldn't happen to make it work. That could easily happen with what you've suggested.

What I wouldn't want to see is FF becoming a jack of all trades. A jack of all trades is a master of none, after all. I also remember several members being rather annoyed that Fiatforums was allegedly trying to poach members for its own forum. The likes of Alfa Owner may feel the same way if FF is seen doing a similar thing, which would damage this forum's reputation.

The last part there could be very true and i see your point there. But if as MDM says becomes true then wouldnt it be a path to other forums or a good introduction for the basics like the ICE forum and then when people are a little more confident they can go to a more dedicated forum without looking completely clueless.
The forum is about helping people at the end of the day. It also may be healthy to promote a bit of competition for the tuning and aftermarket traders that use the site and they themselves may learn something too which will then be passed on to the forum users when they get superior products.

As Lancia has been part of FIAT since 1969, and all subsequent cars and engines have been FIAT derived (if not more than a reskin and rebadge) I see that it makes sense.

AO caters for ALFA more than enough, and the direct links have been less compared to Lancia vehicles - even after the Alfa marque was acquired in 1985

My Lancias have Fiat Twin Cams. The rest of the ancilliaries and parts are really Fiat parts-bin. It's a Fiat with a twist.

I agree fully on a Lancia section.

I don't see the need for an Alfa section.
