In certain threads, there are some posts that need to be continually updated to contain new information, which necessitates "quoting" and "requoting" the same post just so that a new name, a new time or a new car colour (just loose examples) can be added or something amended.

In such a case if the thread originator was able to include a post that could be edited by all involved to reflect the new info and if that post could be made to show as a new post to those that are subscribed each time it was edited it would save a lot of reposting.

You can do this in the events section with the initial thread/post and I wondered what other people think or would it prove to be just something that trolls would mess with just because they could.

As an example there are times when an impromptu local meet might be arranged that doesn't merit a new thread in the events section but would require the "attendees" to list their names, cars, ETA etc. which could all be done in here.

Awww :) I've beaten that this time - I had to ride 1 hour on the back of a motorbike to get to the nearest internet cafe .... down a dirt track avoiding cows :)

The problem with time limiting is it is a forum wide thing and can't be changed for certain users / usergroups (I've been pushing vB to do this for ages, for example to allow longer for donated members).

Garage is new and has sod all admin capabilities, however in the later versions I think it will allow others to accept items.

Saying that though, generics are still not accepted - neither are things like "Colour coded mirrors" until the software has a better way to catalogue them. If it's got a model number and manufacturer it will go in, if not, I leave it in the queue until we figure something better out....

EDIT: Oh and people who create a new manufacturer but leave all the details blank, unless I can find it on Google it also won't be created, so please fill in a web address at the very least.

Can't you just disable the time limitations altogether? It's really annoying not being able to add to a post and then increase my post count by having to double-post (post another message after my previous one) instead of being able to add to the existing post?

It seems to have got even more restricted recently. =/
