Can't say i'm a massive fan of the new prefixing (i dont *really* see the point of it) but it is here, so am guessing it is staying.

Is there any way to add an option to show a certain filter, or combination of filters as a default? Example, i rarely look in the styling section of the cento section so just having the filter on technical and general would suit me better :)

Interesting ideas.

What I'll get around to soon is having the G/T/S filters listed on the main forum listing page to replace where the G/T/S links were / are at the moment - so in that respect nothing will have changed.

As for multiple filtering per forum, I don't think thats an option built into the vB core - so it doesn't look like that's possible. Saying that though, I haven't had a massive look so it could be hiding somewhere :)

As for the "why" - believe it or not I'd wanted to do this from the start, just it was never technically feasible! Now people can view all their models posts in one place, without having to switch between multiple forums (one of the biggest FF complaints from before).

And as custard said - if you don't like that idea, just use the filter links and it behaves EXACTLY the same was as it used to, just with some colour dots - and even they can be removed, check in your user control panel to switch them to text instead (Will be introducing a third option soon which uses picture icons, just need to find a decent set first!)

It does seem like a few of you are missing the point - you always needed to click a filter to view the technical forum, it was just called a "forum" instead of a "filter" ;)

Indeed - if I rack it up so you can view General + Technical in the same place, then you've actually gained something! (Along with all the people who hated forum jumping!)

argh don't like change! *buries head* ? :D

I think custard missed my in the OP. Say for example i'm heading to the cento section, i'll click on General, have a nosey at that, and then click on technical, but rarely click on 'styling' since i have little interest in bodykits and the like.

I have rethough my original ieda though, instead of having a default filter for each person (i can imagine that being a total PITA to implement), how about simply making the 'General' 'Technical' and 'Styling' text that used to be links, back into links, but linking to the filter shortcuts that are currently at the top of the forum.

That way it is all prefixed (how Ben wanted it to begin with), clicking on the main links gives the view of all the posts, but clicking straight on the links below filters it and brings up the ones from that 'section' like it used to?

i am, but on the main page - as well as within the forum.

so if scroll to cento and i click technical, it takes me to the cento forum but with the technical filter enabled.

I worked hard with the Bravo and 500 lot to try and fix any issues they had, so when you say (n) - why exactly?

as arc said, we are users, users dont like change...

i like arc's idea, but it basically just puts it back to where we started which it sounds like you dont really want?

it was the same deal with the new facebook layout (like the way i always reference facebook? :p), millions of users wanted the old one back but after a few weeks i feel its just become the 'norm', people just get used to whatever is around them.

a concern i would have is the new users, okay all the people who have been here for years wont just run away, they'll just get used to it. but the new users may be put off and intimidated by having never seen a forum layed out this way before....

you forget what its like getting into the swing of things when you join a new forum, its the same as starting a new job, there an aweful lot to take in!

yes, but with the cruical difference being that when you click on the main forum link, it shows you all of the posts - and it is actually structured using prefixes instead seperate forums.

but yeah, it would mean the likes below would effectivly work like they used to - good times :)

the main criticism from new users were there were too many sections and it was hard to navigate
