I know this is an open forum but it would be so nice to add a dreamer reality check function,

There are many people that spend good time giving hard earned free advice, but even the best of them get well pis*ed off when it turns out to be a new dreamer trying to mascarade as in position to do it

It would be good to be able to flag the fact for future searchers that this is a dreamer post rather than factual

I think this is a good idear you should not wast other peoples time if your not in the position where you have the money or time to do what you are asking about

Yeah, I see the point, but its the person, if they reply or not... but it is a bit of a sod, when people ask what mods they can do, but say they have a budget of £50!... which really isnt realistic... I see it ok if people genuinely dont understand certain stuff, but when it comes to silly stuff then I think there taking the pi**!

I completely agree with Allanhelen on this subject, it's not enough that the same threads pop up time and time again because people dont bother to use the Search function or read the stickies (and FAQ in the case of the Cento section) but it is bloody annoying when the OP turns out to be a dreamer and has wasted others time (time that could have been put to more benificial use)

Yes I agree that the information that the useful members post within the thread may be of some use to others (when taken in context) however people tend to skim posts when searching for information and therefore wont want to read through multiple pages of dreaming in search of information which in turn may lead to yet another thread on the matter.

I'm not saying that said dreamers' threads should be locked or deleted however some noticable form of marking a thread as a "Dreamer" thread or maybe even a rating scale on the usefulness/relevance of the thread in relation to the thread title may have a positive effect on the number of duplicate threads being started.

Allanhelen, I notice you started this thread very soon after you replied to another thread in the Cinq/Sei section, did another dreamer finally tip you over the edge? ;)

Maybe.........the older i get the less tolerance i have

But it is the search bit that concerns me especially for new users, I too don't want post deleting just a way (even if mod governed) to reduce the priority of such posts when searching, just try searching for Turbo Cinq for example

The current search returns newest post first and these may contain less useful information than older posts (and there will be at least one person that replies with use the search :bang:) and as you say people get fed up skimming posts.

a "usfulness index" maybe a function only available to users that have been active for longer than a certain time period maybe a way to address this? i'd be more than happy to participate as i am sure would many others

what about a feature in search that has the thread rating as a variable?
