Re: Auto Italia Concours - Stanford Hall

If we were going to do it - it would be done properly with credit card style cards - or at least thermal plastic printing.

I still can't see what they would actually be for though. Thats a bit more of an important question than how to make them.

Suppose we took for example:

Pay £10 a year.
Get a card which has an expiry date on it.
.... er .... and what else?

Some could argue that its just like a donation but you get a nice card, personally it seems more like exploitation (though of course, if 10,000 of you want to do this at £10 a year I'll be more than happy to accept ... lol)

I like the idea of an official club type thing - I just think we need to think more of the direction of why we have it and what will it offer, instead of just thinking "wow we get a nice shiny card!"

Re: Auto Italia Concours - Stanford Hall

Well it could be used as proof of membership to claim discounts instead of printing out profile page all the time? There could be a member number e.t.c

Re: Auto Italia Concours - Stanford Hall

It is a case of networking. I ran a site for fitness professionals a few years back which was similar to this principle except yours is better..! I made some money, those who registered saved some.. what could be better?

You have already got things like insurance discounts etc but there is a world of possible benefits out there which if we could get discounted, i would buy an official card for i.e there are a few fiat garages near me, all franchised. As fiat forum is the unoffical HUB of all things Holy, i am sure the owners may be inclined to offer discounts if a large amount of registered donation users lived within a reasonable distance of their garage, body shop, MOT test centre, service centre etc.

at the end of the day, businesses pay thousands for email lists for potential clients, this forum has an untapped potential for these people.

Yes you may profit, but why shouldnt you, look at what you have created, there are more people registered than live in my town i am sure!!

i could do some ground work for the forum, i am sure there are others on here who would be willing as well, the old you scratch my back i scratch your back arrangement.. i have been a member for about 25 minutes and you already save me a trip to my fiat dealer!!

any thoughts, send me a message. It just takes a little effort from people.

Er yeah, it could be a bit like the "Dartmoor 100" club.
You pay for a membership card, and then you are a life member.
There aren't even any benefits to being a member - you just feel like you are part of something,

Great idea these membership cards, Just so that you feel a part of something bigger and maybe the idea of a discount or two along the road would be a bonus.

That discount thing is a fair point as a lot of places I've asked won't do it because we don't have fixed fees.

Ok - I tell you what - let me look into the pricing of these cards etc and I'll see what I can do.

But basically, to make it simple, each card would last a year and cost £X (and only Paypal would be accepted!).

You could use it to get discounts at X, Y, Z and maybe run competitions every so often for members to win items from the shop?

Plus, as an added bonus for anyone who collects stamps - they'd be sent from random countries in Asia, so nice to add to your collection (y)

sounds good to me! :D

I've been thinking about this some more, and have a different route type of idea for it.

Howabout instead of it being a membership card, it's marketed as a "Discount Card" (with the whole yearly expiry thing and all), this keeps us out of "club" territory and still the free forum we are - however if you want your "card", one is now available.

A subtle yet distinct difference I think?

Obviously for it to really take off, I'd need to get a load of companies on board - however I don't think that would be too difficult.

I'd be up for that for sure! Would it be worth making a poll, see how many members are for/against and those against can make alternative suggestions?

Edit: Not that I think there will be any against of course ;)

easier option maybe....

On punto mk2 you pay £5 and you get acess to the "club forum" which contains discounts and other info that you wouldnt get in public forums.

I understand FF is well known for being free and public but this could work out ok.

what do we think?
