mods feel free to move if I have in wrong place

I know it's a big idea that if went ahead would take alot of time and preperation but.

What about a dedicated Fiat Forum track car? for people who want to take a car round a track but don't want to wreck their pride and joy.

could get something like a punto or a bravo, people who want to have a go could put say £30 or something to the initial cost of the car and then when they want a go, pay something like £15 for 5 laps.

Obviously the costs would go to the cost of the trackday (wherever the track is) and some of it to the person who keeps the car and maintains it and if there's any left over to the forum.

Just an idea, please discuss :D

I think this is one of those ideas which everyone thinks would be great, but it would just be too hard to organise.

Picking a car for starts. How many Cinq owners think it should be something small that handles well? How many Bravo owners think it should be something with a bit of grunt(20V) and how many Punto owners think it should be somewhere in between?

Then who looks after it and how is a budget planned for it?

The forum is actually maybe too big to have a track car of its own.

quite a good idea

in reality hard to administer and would take a lot of contributions to get the idea going. I could rent a workshop bay at work (an RAF base) for £15 a month but I think thats for a 1-3 month basis for doing extended work etc. Also it should be upto the driver at the time to sort insurance. it aint that expensive for a days insurance even on the track (well worth it if you ask me).

Unless someone is generous enough to donate a car then I think its not possible :(.

I vote for this option lol

good idea, but as said it would be hard too actually get up and going...
but if this idea was too be done, then we could have -top gear- like lap races and see who the fastest FF member.....

dont think we have the budget :D

we would have those who would be happy to hand over say a little bit towards it, and then those that wont, yet i bet the people that dont put anything towards it will still want to drive it :eek:

then theres the upkeep off it

mmmmm what about trying to find a sponsor...worth a try..:p

Seriously though, the track car thing is a nice idea, but will never happen, say it costs £2K to fully race prep (made up cost), 2nd time out Jimmy Lead Foot trashes it into a wall.... erm... no. Or shreds tyres going sideways into gravel trap like my mate did last time he was out, then the melted tyre shreds appear all over the body... lovely.
